The Reservoir

Amber went in and out of consciousness. Blurred images of a dark tunnel and rushing water flashed before her. One moment she was being carried by the rushing sewage, desperately trying to fight against the fast-flowing currents. The next, nothing.

Amber woke again, disorientated, her vision still blurred. Now she was gently floating on a stream of murky brown water, that was calm a slow as it flowed through an open sewer. Above her, though barely, Amber could make out the night sky. Clear with the moon and countless stars shining down on her.

Then suddenly, nothing. Amber fell back into unconsciousness, floating down the stream.

After a while, the sewer emptied out in a reservoir. Ambers **** body was deposited on its bank, seemingly lifeless.

Amber awoke shortly after. Still half in the water she began crawl up the bank, gripping at rocks and tree roots to drag herself out of the water. Amber strained and struggled as she crawled up the bank. Her arms aching with fatigue, so tired she was on the edge of drifting off to sleep. Though Amber resisted, and continued struggling her way up the reservoirs bank.

Eventually the bank plateaued out into a grassy knoll, Amber rolled herself over the precipice of the bank and lay sprawled on the flat surface. Tired, soaked, and wracked with pain. Amber finally gave in, and fell into a deep sleep.

A few hours later, whilst Amber still lay sleeping. A convoy of vehicles drove past her, before stopping. Several dark figures emerged from the convoy and made their way over to Amber to investigate. One checked her pulse, to see if she still lived, and reported to the others. For a few moments they stood around her, muttering to one another in indiscernible speech. Then, one grabbed Amber and threw her still **** body over their shoulder, and took her to their car. They threw her into the backseat, before closing the door and getting back into the passenger seat. The rest did likewise and got back into their vehicles and drove off, taking Amber with them.
