Listen and Wait

How did he miss it. Something so loud as hundreds of droplets of water splashing against a hard surface. Had the dream nerfed his hearing and sight? Was that why he struggled to keep his eyes open directly after opening them the first time?

Wait a minute. Breath, calm down. Remember, no matter the circumstances...

He collected himself.

Then decided to just listen and wait, if it were an armed thief he had taken precautionary measures underneath his bed frame that could potentially even the playing field. Say he already confiscated the weapon, though it certaintly sounded like a girl, and was also regardlessly unlikely, he was particularly confident in his self taught defense tactics, when dealing with an armed agressor while unarmed himself.

The water suddenly stopped. Again his heart rate raced, his body flooding with adrenaline.

He reached underneath the bed, sliding whatever it was closer to his position, however, still obstructed by the frame.

A sigh of relief, as he closed his eyes, feigning sleep.
