Lightly Armed Traders

The route you and your forces were staying was a popular trade route, but it was safe due to the guards that were stationed around to keep it secure, thanks to that city and the fact there were three villages. So, it was only natural that a trade caravan would stumble upon your ambush site, and lightly armed as well. You could count at least two or three guards, plus the merchant, his driver, and some woman.

It seems fortune was smiling upon you. These wouldn't be enough to get the bare minimum amount of attention from the ghouls though. You wadger you need at least a dozen bodies for that, and here was six, at least half. So, it was one hell of a good start.

Now, you just needed a strategy to figure out in order to get these people. You'd like to not kill them yet, ensure their corpses were fresh for the deal with the ghouls. After all, you had at least a couple of days of travel from where you are to Alferheim.
