Chapter 4 by splotch splotch

Does she make it?

No!

Just as Glenda reached the point where the creek passed under the wall the guard caught up to her. He fished her from the water, sputtering in her gown. The commotion drew attention and soon a crowd had formed. Visiting Nobles, servants and guards all shook their heads. They knew Glenda's reputation for unladylike behavior. Constant escape attempts, daring feats, all unbecoming of a woman in her position.

An hour later, with Glenda in locked in her chamber, with two armed guards outside the door, The king had just heard the new. He raged in his throne room, pacing back and forth angrily. The advisor who had told him of Glenda's escape attempt cowered. To his left the Queen sat calmly in her throne.

"Another escape attempt!" The king scoffed. "How many does this make?!"

"11 sire" The advisor said. "Three of which were this year."

"The fool girl!" The king growled. "She doesn't know how good she's got it! There are girls out there in the world who would kill, actually **** for her postion! And what does she do? She tries to flee! Acting like a prisoner and not one of the most privledged people in the realm!"

"She dishonors us." The Queen pushed the king on. She was an expert at manipulating his rages. "The nobles laugh at our outlandish daughter!"

"They do!" The king growled. "Not just the escapes! Cavorting around with servants, tricking knights into teaching her sword and horse skills. She dishonors the crown with her actions! Well, no more! I'll find a way to ensure she learns her lesson this time..."

what's the king thinking?
