Crowds

It soon becomes apparent that I must have picked a rather busy time to be out and about at the condo. The crowding was starting to grow considerably, and several times I felt something, or perhaps someone, must have yanked on my towel.

When the door finally opened at what seemed my floor, I let out a sigh and stepped out of the lift. It was only when the lift doors closed that I noticed I must have gotten out far too soon. I was now on the fourth floor, rather than the basement level with the showers and locker room. I decided it best not to re-attempt the trip again and proceeded to the stairs. On the way to the second floor, I see a pair of eyes watching me from below. Their gaze was intense and focused on my towel. I looked down and noticed my towel had slipped down considerably, leaving everything about my hips exposed, and let out a heavy sigh.

I briefly try to pull my towel back up, but all that does is risk losing it altogether and I resolve to get down to the showers as quickly as possible, despite the exposure. I walk down the step of stairs between us, feeling no ill will for either of them. I stop next to them on the landing, and casually ask, "Who are you and what do I owe the ... the pleasure?".

"We always liked the view from this window. We grew up on this floor, but quickly we need to find someplace to stay.", replies one of them. His companion spoke up then "Our parents wanted us out of the house in the spring after we are both eighteen. Steve has been 18 for a while, and I turned 18 over the last winter. We have to move out soon, but we don't know where to go. The few places available we simply can't afford, Not even when we bunk together. We hoped the view would help us figure out our next move."

"How soon do you need to be out? I ask casually, remembering the empty bedroom I had listed, hoping to find a roommate to sublet. Steve spoke up again, "They would like us out today. I've tried every option we could think up, but nothing worked".
