Chapter 3 by Korrin Korrin

What should Theron do next?

He tries to persuade Kass to go with him.

"Look, Alex... Kass. I've... I thought you were dead. I've spent my whole life geared towards ****, but now that I know you're alive... I just can't let you go," Theron said, pleading with his eyes, hopeing the boy before him would see how sincere he was.
"I mean... I can't **** you to come with me," Theron said as he released his grip on Kass' arm, "But... Are you attached in this village?"
"Attached?" Kass asked, confused.
"Do you have ties here? Friends... A lover?" asked Theron, the last question hurting him more than he expected.

Kass looked away from Theron, "No, I... I'm just passing through."

Theron felt renewed hope, "Then that means you've nothing to leave behind if you come with me," he said as he smiled brightly at Kass, but his smile fell as Kass just stared back, looking as lost as he had in the tavern.

"Like I told you before, it would be better for both of us if I didn't. I'd just end up hurting you."

Theron could see by the look in Kass' eyes that any harm he caused would be unintentional.
"Listen... Kass. My mother used to tell me you could never change a man's nature. I'm sure you're the same Alexander I knew, and if you are, then I know you would never hurt me," Theron tried to reassure him.

Kass just stood there, neither denying nor agreeing with what Theron had said.

"It must be lonely," said Theron finally, "Just passing through. Do you have any friends, in places other than this village?"

Kass shook his head.

"You don't have a destination, do you?" Theron asked him, "You're not going anywhere. You're just going."

Once again, Kass was silent, neither denying nor agreeing.

"Say... How about you just come with me for a while?" Theron said, somewhat resigned, but trying to keep his voice calm, "Maybe you'll get your memories back, maybe you won't. It's safer than traveling alone... And, I'll be your friend, if you want."

Kass sighed. "I don't know..." He said, looking up in to Theron's eyes. He felt like he had kicked a puppy. The look Theron was giving him was so pleading, he could practically feel him getting ready to break down and beg.
"I... I guess it's ok. Just for a while."

Theron's face imediately lifted in to an ecstatic smile, and Kass found himself thinking that the expression suited Theron's face much more than the sad expression he'd been wearing earlier.
"Trust me Kass, you won't regret this," Theron said happily.

Will Theron try to jog Kass' memory, or perhaps he'll just let him relax and get used to everything?
