1: Mrs Valerie Anna Johnston; a stay at home housewife who is bored out of her mind with caring for their two older children, split-level ranch in the suburbs, and newborn baby. In the past few months since Tyler was born she has been going on dating website's 'just to flirt', so she keeps telling herself, but the truth is she's started thinking about leaving her husband...

2: Mister Gordon Timothy Johnston (Senior); a CPA who works longer hours than he really should, but is mired in the morals and attitudes instilled in him by being raised by his grandparents, attitudes which belong in 1950, not 2016. He thinks "Till **** Do Us Part" is a covenant with God and the husband's job is to provide all the money the family needs, while the wife stays home to cook, clean, and care for the kids. He has no idea how close he is to losing Valeria...

3: Rebecca Mary-Ann Johnston: first born of the Johnston's three children, "Becky", as all her friends call her, is 8 years old, and having trouble with having a baby brother. Since Tyler was born she has been doing poorly in school, and is acting surly at home, not at all her usual cheerful self...

4: Gordon Timothy Johnston Junior: recently turned seven, "Tim" or "Junior", is also having trouble with school. He has been the 'baby' of the family his whole life, but now finds himself pushed aside by his infant brother Tyler, and resents it bitterly.

5: Tyler Luke Matthew Johnston the First: at slightly more than three months old, Tyler has no idea that his family is at the beginnings of a crisis, less even than most of the family do.
