Stay On Land

Emma's decision had more to do with giving Jenny some privacy than getting high, but she wasn't going to turn down the incentive.

She watched the young couple swim out in to the lake and playfully splash about. Then A slight cough pulled her attention back to her present company. Ian had lit the spliff and was handing it to Nick, who after taking a toke, handed it to Emma.

Emma took a small drag, letting it out slowly. It was a mellow smoke and didn't have her coughing and hacking like some of the cheap ditch weed she had enjoyed at college parties. By the time the marijuana cigarette made it's way back to her, she was feeling pretty good. By the time the three had finished the joint, she was felling very high.

Emma took a long swallow from her vodka, the boys looking on with glassy eyes. The scene made her giggle for some reason, and that seemed weird to her and made her laugh. Her laughter seemed to be contagious and soon all three of them were laughing at nothing in particular.

"What's so funny?" Emma asked, pausing her laughter to take another drink.

"I don't know," Nick said through a wide grin.

Ian turned from the group and laughed harder, "Oh shit, you guys are high."

Emma found this funny and started laughing again.

"Kind of the point, right," Nick said, adding, "You were hoping to smoke dope and not get high?"

Emma laughed harder at Nick's response.

"Oh shit, we broke Emma." Ian said.

"No, I'm good. Honest." Emma said, trying not to laugh, but not sure why.
