Chapter 38 by Vain Vain

So, where should he look for them first...?

Have a look in their rooms

Jack didn't need to look for long at least, as he managed to find one of his daughters in her room, just a few steps away from his own. At first he almost thought that she was busy studying for once, as he found Jennie on her bed and reading a book, instead of sitting in front of her computer like usual.

He quickly proved himself wrong though, by daring a closer peek into the room, and nearly sighed out loud as he recognized the eastern art style that was apparently known as manga. Not that he cared so much about what the girl was reading, but at least he'd hoped for something with actual content, instead of what he perceived as little more than silly comics for children.

"Dad...?" The girl glanced up in surprise, as she suddenly must have noticed him looking down at her, and for some reason her face went pale for a second, before changing color again to a blushing red instead. She made some brief attempt of hiding the book she was reading as well, but swiftly seemed to decide it was better to just leave it open like it was, and she had some obvious difficulties to keep her voice in check while she tried to ask him what he was doing in her room.

"I just wanted to check what you were doing." Jack shrugged in return, while he could barely hold back on his own, growing curiosity. He'd only rarely seen her react like this before, and it really wasn't difficult to figure there was something about that silly-looking comic book she wasn't willing to share with him for now. "I haven't seen you or your sisters for a while."

"They're probably still outside, by the pool." Jennifer was quick to suggest, and once again it was fairly obvious that she'd preferred him to leave the room as soon as possible. In other cases he'd probably not even bothered to stay around either way, but just because of this weird acting he just couldn't keep from continuing their brief conversation, while at the same time sneaking another quick glance at the page she'd been looking at.

Once again he wasn't able to discern anything too peculiar about the small frames of art, but while he stood there watching her he couldn't help from noticing how his daughter had started to wriggle uneasily on top of her bed. It struck him then that her whole position didn't look very comfortable, with only her left hand to hold onto the book, while her left one was apparently stuck underneath her body.

Still it took him a few more seconds to figure out all the pieces of the puzzle, and he finally understood her embarrassment when he realized her hand wasn't just resting, but was also quite obviously buried down the front of her soft-looking sweatpants. Whatever that manga was actually about, it seemed like Jennie was enjoying something a little more private than just reading, and in turn this sudden revelation was putting her father in a rather awkward situation as well...

What should he do then...?
