Chapter 7 by Manbear Manbear

How is the concert?

The music is good, but...

The opening band, Mountain Lion, that Chris wanted to see is a blue grass/folk/rock fusion with a guitar, fiddle and small drum kit but it is the lead singer that makes the music work. When Chris had told you the lead singer was a friend of his you pictured a bearded gentleman in mountain-man style buckskin jacket decorated with porcupine quills and dear antler tips. The slender spiky-haired brunette wearing cowboy boots, a flowing skirt and an embroidered white blouse open at the neck is nothing at all like the man you had imagined. She has an unrefined raw sexual appeal that she uses to tease the crowd; she shimmies her shoulders and narrow hips as she dances about the stage with her tambourine.

"You didn't tell me your 'friend' was a such a hottie, Chris." You tease him as you dance along by his side.

"Kaylie?" Chris asks in surprise. "I guess she's kinda cute, but I've seen her covered in sweat and dirt too often to describe her as a 'hottie'." Your not sure if you believe the man or not; he seems sincere, but how could any man not notice the slender small-breasted beauty? You've never experimented with girls but you have on occasion been tempted and this singer in her late twenties, and her natural charisma is exactly they type that even you can appreciate. Does he really expect you to believe he never saw her as a potential sexual partner? But, instead of picking a fight, you turn your attention back to the concert letting the music wash away your doubts. It's pretty ridiculous Amy to be jealous of a young woman on your very first date with the man, but between those Latino chicas and now this spiky-haired singer what are you supposed to think?

At the end of the set, the band steps down from the stage and mingles with the appreciative audience. When Kaylie gets to where you and Chris are standing she greets Chris with a hug and a kiss but before the feelings of jealousy resurface she steps to you and gives you the same hug and kiss that Chris got.

"There are a couple more acts coming up," she tells you still bubbling with energy "but when they're all done there's a cast party in the back. You two should stop by and meet everyone!" And with that she is gone, pressing through the crowd of admirers hugging and kissing her fans as she goes. The next band does a fairly good job covering soft rock bands like Kansas, Jethro Tull and Alabama. In your opinion, their delivery lacks the energy and originality of Kaylie and her band, but most of the audience however seems to enjoy the second set, quite a few of the hippy types sing along with enthusiasm with young children perched on their shoulders and you find yourself sing along as well. It is hard to not enjoy these classics.

The final band has all the amplifiers, lights and pyrotechnics of a successful band and the music gets louder and faster. You sense that this is the band the bikers had been waiting for, as you see groups of them pushing through the throngs to the front of the stage. Once there, two or three of their women begin a dance that looks more appropriate for a strip club than a family friendly concert. You see Chris's face harden when he sees the drunken group in in black leather jackets get into the faces of the two fathers that try put an end to the risque dance.

"Stay here, Amy, I'll be right back."

I spite of his instructions, you follow behind Chris to the edge of the ring of spectators that are watching the confrontation between your date and four of the meanest looking men you've seen in a while. In an odd way the heavy beat of the music provides the sound track to the cinematic scene that is unfolding in front of you. One of the burly men must have recognized you because he tells Chris to 'Fuck Off' unless he wants to let you dance for the Snake eyes like one of their whores. A little guilty about making Chris's job even more difficult you try to back away into the crowd but you see several other of these men blocking any chance of escape. The limited security provided for what should have been a small peaceful event looks completely inadequate to deal with the sudden threat posed by this gang.

What will Chris do? What can he do against four large men, and is he willing to risk your safety in an attempt to keep the event from being hijacked by these Snake Eyes?

Is Chris able to defuse the tension that is building along with the music?
