You run into Nicole's fiance, Arthur

You notice that there's a man standing at your front door. He rings the bell once, then waits a bit. You can only see him from the back, noting he has short blonde hair and seems pretty fit. You can't help but notice how snug his jeans are over his ass. You shake your head to clear it of such thoughts. You also note that James' car is gone, he must have went out for groceries.

"Excuse me, can I help you?" You ask.

He turns around and you feel something in you melt. Good lord was he handsome!

"Yeah..um..are you Katherine by any chance?" He asked, walking over to you.

You suddenly found yourself getting suspicious. "Yes, and you are?"

"My name's Arthur. I'm Nicole's fiance. I came over here because my wife told me what she said to you today," he explained. "I wanted to apologize."

Your first impulse was to curse Nicole. Your second impulse was to think: "So that's the Arthur she's always going on about? Well at least I can see why." Third brought you back to Earth when you registered what he said.

"Apologize? For what?"

"For the crap she's been giving you. I know she told you a bunch of stuff, really personal stuff, and I wanted to say sorry for her unloading all that on you," he said seriously.

"I appreciate that, Arthur, but have you talked to Nicole about this?" You ask.

"Yeah. It's weird. Around anybody else she's one of the sweetest people ever, but when she talks about you and James, something changes, like a light-switch."

"Did you know she propositioned me and James? That you two were swingers?" You ask, determined to find out what was bullshit and what was true.

"Jesus, she said that too?" Arthur shook his head. "Yes it's true that we're swingers, but I'd really prefer it if she not just throw that fact out at people. Geez, it sounds like I have more to talk about with her than I thought."

Being Nicole's fiance had kind of given the man strikes against him in your mind from the get-go, but from talking to him he seemed genuinely upset at Nicole's behavior, maybe he was all right. "Look, you're not the one that has anything to apologize for, Arthur. There was a time Nicole and I were close, but... things just kinda frayed after James and I got together."

"Yeah, she told me about that, can't say I really understand her feelings about it myself. Feels like there's some unresolved issue there. That would be my guess, but I won't keep you any further. I just wanted to say sorry. Hopefully one day Nicole will get over what she's feeling and do the same."

"Thanks, Arthur, I appreciate that." You suddenly feel a little more accommodating toward the man. "You want to come inside for a bit?" You find yourself asking.
