Chapter 29 by dearnise dearnise

Who to follow next?

Janissa takes Cesar to the forest.

Cesar was wondering why Janissa decided to take him out to the forest, while Jasmine spent the next few days working on her adventuring gear. Getting onto a pair of horses, she led him there; first taking a main trade road, then a dirt farm road, and then over virgin grasslands, into the forest. As they slowly rode on, she led him across a stream, near a small waterfall, and over to a grove of trees. To Cesar, there was nothing of interest, other than a group of old trees, with wide stems, and long pine branches.

"Look up, Cesar." Janissa looked to him, and pointed up.

"Huh?" Cesar looked up, and saw what was up there.

Above them was a series of large treehouses, with enough space for the entire guild and support staff. A series of suspension bridges, made of wood and rope, connected them all together. At the center, a set of ladders can be brought down, but there was an elevator-like mechanism, too, and that was what they used to get up there, after hitching their horses to a spot near the stream, to allow the horses access to water.

"Did you do this all by yourself?" Cesar asked Janissa as they went up.

"Deraxle & Sashya actually did this." Janissa responded. "They felt that building this through natural & Draconian magic would help me make a full recovery. I didn't think they would go this big, though."

"Interesting," Cesar told her as they went inside the central house, "but they really didn't need to do this."

"On the other hand," Janissa replied, "it has helped me."

She led him to where there was a chamber that looked like an Elven home. There was a small bath in one corner, a fireplace using warming and light-giving Elven crystals on one side, and a bed in another corner. There were some other furniture there, but then there was a spot in the corner, where Cesar saw what Janissa had been working on. Although it was not quite finished yet, he could see that she had been working on a new Elven compound bow. Using the kind of wood only found in the Elven Islands of Kalidell, she had shaped it into the kind of shape that was Elvish. She had already fashioned out the haft at the center of the bow for her gripping hand, and the set of strings, made from animal guts, that she had yet to wind and weave into a bowstring. A trio of quivers, full of arrows, were also set aside, as well as a pair of long daggers.

"You didn't have to bring me here," Cesar told her, "if all you were going to do, is finish working on your new bow."

"There's more to it than that, Cesar." Janissa turned to face him. "I know you have a liking for Jasmine, who is a great woman to have in the guild. It's just that while Trini & Sakura have helped me recover from my ****, I just...just can't help but think about having a man by my side again."

"Are you sure, Janissa?" Cesar looked to her with a concerned expression.

"Yes." Janissa looked up to him, her eyes staring into his own. "We have been together for so long, Cesar. The only thing that has prevented me from stating my feelings sooner, has been our adventures. Again, I know you like Jasmine, and she likes you, too; there's no doubt about that. But I'm starting to have deep feelings about you, too."

The High Elf walked up to her human partner, and slowly wrapped her arms around his neck. She was reasonably hesitant, with her heart racing, and her breathing becoming rapid. Then she pressed herself against him, letting her breasts squeeze against his chest.

"I do not mind you sleeping with other women during our adventures, or with Jasmine," Janissa whispered to him, "but please do not forget about me, your co-founder."

And with that, she tilted her face forward, and pressed her lips against him in a soft, deep, needing kiss.
