Chapter 3

Day 1: Who do you set your sights on?
Alex
After checking in the girls and your luggage you opt to leave them to their feminine business, saying you'll catch up later. You only have a week's time of holiday after all, and you definitely want to make the most of it with the local girls before you have to head back.
So you find yourself at the Tap Room, the local casual restaurant, seated along the windowed area at a small table for two. The view of the mountains, covered in diamond dust, is as breathtaking as you remember it, but you've got other views in mind today. You turn your gaze back into the restaurant - for this time of day, there aren't a lot of patrons in the establishment; exactly how you want it. Sure enough, a welcome sight soon heads in your direction; you recognize Alex, one of the local waitresses who you set up with Lucas the previous year.
"Welcome to the Tap Room," sighs Alex, unable to mask her typical annoyance and apathy. "May I take your - Brett? Is that you?"
"Hey, Alex," you grin as her mouth falls open. "How's it going?"
"Pretty horrible as usual," Alex snorts dismissively before smiling back at you, "Now that you're here... a little less horrible. What about you? Got into Becky's pants yet?"
"Well, doesn't someone think she's clever," you sneer good-naturedly back at her, before the two of you burst into laughter. Banter with attitude summed up your interactions with Alex most of the time; it was how she dealt with most things she came across. "So... what about you and Lucas?"
"Him? That sniveling wannabe macho? Nah, there's been a restraining order."
"You got a restraining order on him?"
"Who, me? Ha, as if! No, he got one out on me!" laughs Alex. "He's scared that I might hunt him down and kick his scrawny little ass. Wasn't gonna, though the cheating little bastard would have it coming." You shrug at this. Considering you went all the way to help set the two of them up - and patch them back together - you don't really feel like sticking up for your friend or his playboy ways.
"Huh. No wonder he didn't mention anything about you over the last few months."
"Yeah, I'd heard from Becky that he started to see someone else," mutters the blond. "Why is it that all the handsome guys always turn out to be such douchebags?"
"I don't know about that," you shrug. "But if people are turning you down and cheating on you... yeah, they are pretty much douchebags. They don't know what they're missing out on."
"That's sweet of you, Brett," smiles Alex. It's not often that Alex shows off her softer side to people, so you know you've scored a few points in your favor. "Maybe that's what I need in my life for a change, a nice guy."
"Nice guys, hm?" Feigning a muse, you tilt your head in mock thoughtfulness. "I think I might know where you could find a guy like that."
"Oh, really?" Narrowing her eyes, Alex leans closer towards you. A glint of light from the window reflects off her lip gloss, drawing your attention to her tantalizing lips as she softly, sultrily whispers. "And where might that be?"
