Yes, she dodges the initial attacks

“Give up, your thugs won’t able to help you.” Rocketgirl said as she stood across from Madame Veil and watched the older woman wearily. The heroine thought that she had the villainess, all of her men were on the ground, and even if she had a weapon, Rocketgirl believed she would be able to dodge a bullet or a blow. “If you give up, I’ll tell the judge you were cooperative.”

Madame Veil surveyed her men who were either **** or moaning in pain on the floor. Next time she would have to try to find more reliable help. “Give up? You should be the one giving up.” Madame Veil said as the anger grew inside her. “You don’t know what powers you are facing.” The red ruby in her forehead started to glow.

Rocketgirl looked Madame Veil up and down and did not view the older woman as much of a threat. She did not look very strong, though looks could be deceiving, and her dress did not off much concealment for a weapon. Rocketgirl did notice the ruby in the woman’s forehead glowing a bright red and wondered if it had some ability.

“Now I will show you my power.” Madame Veil roared and an energy beam lanced out of the ruby in her forehead towards Rocketgirl’s position.

Rocketgirl saw the energy beam fire from the ruby and quickly sprinted away. She saw Madame Veil tracking her though and the older woman fired again, forcing the heroine to sprint to another position. Each time Rocketgirl stopped moving, Madame Veil would shoot another energy beam at her, causing Rocketgirl to move again to dodge it. Realizing that she had to stop this crazy woman, Rocketgirl started working her way towards Madame Veil. Weaving back and forth, the younger superheroine reached the older villainess and Rocketgirl punched Madame Veil, causing the gray haired woman to stumble backwards.

“Cough, Cough. You….you struck me….” Madame Veil said gasping for breath. The old woman coughed several more times before straightening herself up. Realizing that Rocketgirl’s speed would make it difficult for her to use the energy beam attack, Madame Veil decided to use a wider area affect attack. “You will pay for striking me!” Madame Veil’s ruby then grew bright red and flooded an area in front of her with energy that would cause anyone caught within it to collapse in pain as their nerves burned.
