Handwriting?

Neater, for sure

After getting his sisters off to school and making sure that the rest of the house was secure, Jamal found himself still more or less puzzled by the quiz that was in his bag slung over his shoulder. He supposed that there may be a time where his writing could've been better but he was not complaining, he wrote well enough to make his teachers comment on it. Plus, in the digital age, did people really need to focus on penmanship as much?

Throughout the morning and even during lunch, he was thinking about it in the back of his mind as he considered what it would mean. Or, rather, what DID it mean? If he had been born a girl, would that have meant he would have nicer handwriting? He knew a lot of girls who definitely had much neater writing than the guys, him included, plus, if he was honest, they tended to spend a lot of time writing notes and things down. Perhaps in the old days, anyways, before texting and messaging replaced handwritten notes in class behind the teacher's back. He doubted there would be a difference between boys and girls in his school now.

Jamal found himself looking at some of his sisters' writings, contrasting Janice at 9 and his older younger sister Tamara at 15. They were more or less equal in the sense that they were better at writing than he was, their letters and words were legible, but was it simply that they bothered to make an effort? Did that mean if he had made an effort, he would have neater writing?

He slipped into the chair at the table as his sisters quickly finished getting ready for bed and after settling in, he slid out the quiz and read the first question again.

1.) IF YOU WERE A GIRL...WOULD YOUR HANDWRITING BE NICE?

Figuring that this was a thought exercise from the point of view of him being a girl instead of a boy, he shrugged. It would be neater, for sure, though more mature for my age instead of being really cutesy. He sighed as a slight cramp on his right hand drew his attention momentarily away from the quiz but just as quickly, he just wiggled his fingers a bit and then turned back to the quiz, making sure that the question was answered before turning to the next one.

2.) IF YOU WERE A GIRL...WOULD YOU LIKE PINK?

What's in a color?
