Merchant Lady Say

With her enlarged retinue, Liandra departed from Duke Arthos court and lands. She discussed much with each in turn, and found many of their insights very useful.

"Lord Say is one of the most influential merchants, even if not the most reputable. He has his share in merchant ships, and some privateers under the service of various kingdoms. He doesn't make much of a fuss about it, but it is fair to say he commands more power than many of the smaller kingdoms." Sir Kreyos thought highly of the man, even if he was something of a rogue.

"No" Dani corrected him "It is true that he has all that fleet in his influence, but these days Lord Say is just a bon vivant that enjoys the fruits of his labor. His sons are no better, one is worse than the other. We often hear reports of 'adventures', scions of noble houses spending an evening of deviant pleasure in his frequent parties. It is no place to be if you want to protect your reputation."

"But one doesn't need to visit him" That was Ophelia "His daughter commands Lord Say's mercantile empire. She is an honorable and pious woman, I spoke to her when she visited our father's court". Liandra though it was a fine idea to meet this woman, and directed her ship to her home port, Lanthar.

Lanthar was one of the many port cities in Luxius, and it shamed Liandra to have never visited it. It was far larger than the Capital, the result of free trade and distant high nobility. It also stank horribly, so much Liandra got ill as soon as her sensitive nose experimented the monstrous result of neglected public works and sanitation.

"Perhaps... perhaps one of us can invite Lady Say to come on board? She would probably feel like it is a petty attempt to gain an upper hand, but she would come if she felt there was gain in it"
