Chapter 5

Do the favor?
Agree to do the favor.
Dago nodded, “Sure, why not? I’ve got some time.”
Dom looked pleased with that answer and moved from behind the cauldron to hand Dago the small bottle of purple liquid, “I’m trying to replicate the effects of the Fruit of Life without the… the side effects,” he explained, “Take that and see if you feel any different.”
“Fruit of Life?” Dago asked.
He hadn’t head of that, in all the time he’d spent in the Library. He didn’t make a point of reading a lot, but he already had a good background of a lot of stuff from growing up with a magical grandmother.
“It’s a Fruit that grows in hell, it can cure any illness or poison, but it usually has some strange side effects. I can’t tell you what they are, you know about the placebo effect, right?” Dom said, a bit insistent.
“It’s not going to kill me or anything right?” Dago asked warily.
“No, it will do the opposite, but the side effects aren’t bad, don’t worry,” he said, impatient.
Dago decided to trust Dom and pulled the stopper off of the bottle and drank half of the potion. It had an odd taste, but it was good; kind of like spiced pears with a hint of something he couldn’t identify, something dark. He looked up at Dom expectantly who was simply watching with mild curiosity.
“Well, am I breaking out in strange colors or something?” he asked, half joking and half nervous.
“No, but that isn’t what I’m looking for,” Dom said simply.
Dago started to feel goose bumps on his arms. He rubbed his arm, thinking he was cold and immediately regretted it. A pleasurable, but sudden and shooting sensation moved up his arm and down his back.
“Holy…,” Dago started, staring back at Dom.
“Everything alright?” Dom asked.
Does Dago tell the truth?
