Try to wake Veronica

"Mom," Cara spoke aloud.

Veronica stirred slightly but remained asleep.

"Mom," she said louder.

The thirty-six year-old mother seemed so blissful in her sleep. She seemed happier than Cara had ever recalled her being within the last few years, for during and after the divorce she was a complete wreck. Only in the arms of men had she found peace, a habit that had bothered Cara deeply.

"Mom!" shouted Cara.

Veronica awoke, keeping the smile of her dreams for a few seconds before seeing the state that her daughter was in. "I... I'm sorry, Cara."

"Can you untie me?"
