Chapter 4
by doppledon
What is next?
A gift and a nightcap.
As you leave the restaurant your mind was trying to figure out what to do next. Do you ask her back to your place, go shopping, or maybe a show somewhere? Then as if the world was talking to you directly you saw a local jewelry store. Every woman deserves a nice gift on their anniversary right? You gave her a once over to see what she was wearing and you noticed a necklace and her earrings.
"I have an idea, can you wait right here while I go do something. Ten or fifteen minutes tops" you tell her. She seemed a little put off by being alone for a moment, but you figured it would be worth it and stepped into the jewelry store. You giggled at her wide eyed look when she saw where you were going. You knew you couldn't get her something obvious like a ring or necklace, so instead you asked if they had any vintage earrings. Fortunately they did and you walked out with a $100 pair of earrings. They were white gold with small diamonds. Nothing fancy, just standard earrings, but you thought they'd look really good on her.
"I figured since it was your anniversary you deserved something special to remember the day by" you said handing her a box. She opened the box and looked totally surprised.
"Are these real...I can't accept these Davin, this is too much" she replied holding the box back for you to take.
"Nope, they are a gift for you" you replied while refusing to take the box from her. Her eyes got watery for a moment, but she quickly took off her current earrings, and then put the new ones on.
"They look great on you" you said as you stroked her ear, but she quickly pulled you into a hug.
"So...do you live around here" she asked. Bingo again.
"As a matter of fact I do. Want to watch a movie and have some drinks or something" you asked.
"Yah that sounds nice" she replied. You walked hand in hand to your apartment. You were a bachelor, but your apartment was well kept. You found cleaning and being neat cathartic, plus you felt it was important to make a good impression on anyone you brought home. You unlocked your door and invited her in.
"So I can make most drinks if you're feeling fancy, or we could have wine, or just beer if you like. I think I have Heineken currently" you said as you closed the door and hung up the keys.
"Just a beer is fine with me" she answered as she looked around the apartment. You gave her a quick tour. Your apartment was small but neat. The main room was large and open. It had a kitchen with a counter that doubled as your dinning area, and then you had a nice couch opposite of your large TV, with a coffee table in between. You had one bedroom and one bathroom behind two closed doors, and a small room you used as your office behind a door next to your couch. The view was a good one though. You were on the top floor and overlooked a park. You handed Maria her beer as she looked out the window as the sun set over the park.
"Not a bad view yah" you asked.
"Better than my townhouse. All we get to see is more townhouses" she chuckles.
"So...want me to put something on the TV. I have Netflix, Hulu, Disney, and Prime. Should be able to find something" you say.
"Can we just sit and talk" she asks.
"Sure, what do you want to talk about" you ask as you both sit next to each other on the couch. You both kind of turn to face each other.
"I'm feeling conflicted" she says with a sigh. "Can I just lay it out in the open" she asks.
"Go for it. I'm an adult, we can sort through whatever it is you're feeling" you respond.
"See that right there. I'm not used to that. I'm used to bottling up my feelings and just holding onto them until I can vent to someone about them" she replies.
"But not to your husband" you ask.
"No...not to my husband. Yet here you are, almost a stranger, and I feel more comfortable around you" she sighs. "You have no idea how mentally attractive that is" she adds.
"Part of that is likely because I'm a stranger basically. If you say something that upsets me, or whatever the case may be, there isn't any risk there. We'd just go about our lives not interacting with each other and nothing is really lost" you reply.
"Maybe to start with, but now I feel some sort of connection with you and I wouldn't want to lose that" she replies. "I should probably clarify a bit so you don't go running for the hills. I don't know what I want to happen with you and me, well...that isn't true entirely. What I do know is I think...I think I'm done with my marriage. We've been growing apart for years now, and today has shown me clearly just how far apart we are now" she says smiling.
"You're going to divorce your husband, but you're smiling" you ask.
"It's the first time in a long time that I've felt in control my life. Like I can finally open doors moving forward that I used to ignore" she says.
"So what door do you want to go through next" you ask smiling back.
"That one" she says smirking and pointing at your bathroom door.
"My bathroom" you ask in mock confusion.
"What...no...oh my God I can't believe I fucked that up. I meant that one" she blushes and points at your bedroom door, and you laugh.
"I was just teasing you Maria. Are you sure you want to go through that door with me. That would be one of those choices you couldn't take back" you ask her sincerely. You may have particular tastes about who you fuck, but you want them to make the choice fully understanding what it means.
"I know what I'm doing" she says grabbing my hand and pulling you with her. Before opening the door you spin her around and kiss her. If she was surprised she didn't show any signs of it and immediately kissed you back. You pulled back a moment for you to both catch your breath, but Maria started to strip her clothes as you fumbled with the door knob. Finally opening the door Maria rushed inside in just her panties and bra and flopped down on your bed with her knees hanging over the edge. She opened her arms wide for you to join her.
Do you join her?
