Back to Cyndi or Investigate?
A sense of fear
You can still feel the after effects of the headache, burning in the fringes of your mind. The feeling leaves you a little dazed, as if you’re out of sync with the rest of the world for a few seconds. You stand there staring at buildings in the distance, watching the men in suits holding semi-automatic pistols. You stare as if what you are seeing is the most normal thing in the world. Suddenly the realisation hits you. You’re stood in a field where a meteorite has hit, less than a hundred yards from what is quite obviously a government facility, you’re lucky that they haven’t spotted you yet. The panic sets in and before you know it you’re running back down the path you had trod only minutes before.
You can see the rusted gate ahead of you as you quicken your approach. Having to jump over it will only you cost you valuable minutes in your run back to Cyndi and the car. You wish that the gate would move in some way, but you know that in it’s rusted state there’s no way of moving it easily. You try to put from you mind, the fact you could be in impending danger should be more of a concern, but still the problem with the gate is still there at the back of your mind. You carry on running towards the next field, staring the gate barring your path. The sound of metal scraping against metal fills the air, dumbfounded you see the gate falling to the ground breaking away from the fence post next to it.
You can’t believe your luck as you cross the downed gate and run on into the next field. You make your way back down the dirt path, running down it in a quicker time than you crossed it earlier. You make your way back into the first field, in the distance you can see Cyndi still stood by the car motionless still in a half-trance. You weave back through the crops, checking back across the path you used earlier. As you come closer to the broken section of fence you got through earlier.
You look back over at Cyndi and for the first time notice two large men in suits stood near her. They seem to be trying to talk to her, but Cyndi is unresponsive to any of their questions. The fear of being caught by them is overwhelming, but you creep ever closer to the broken fence section. The nighttime gives you an advantage, as you’re able to keep to your shadows concealing yourself from them. They continue to question Cyndi, the men get quite forceful shouting at her. It doesn’t help that she isn’t capable of answering their questions due to the state you left her in.
You curse your luck as Cyndi is going to land you in a lot of trouble. You’ve got to think of a way of saving her and yourself without putting either of you at risk too much. The situation has completely made you forget one thing, which could be very useful to you… your power. Unfortunately both of the men are wearing dark glasses, so you couldn’t use your power on them immediately. You need to cause some sort of distraction so one of them comes over to you. You look around looking for something that could help you. You can’t see anything around you that would be useful.
Your search is cut short by one of the men drawing a gun on Cyndi, he bellows at her. “You will answer my questions or I will shoot you. You are trespassing on government property.”
