The mare, Loki's perspective

I had thought that the bet was perfect. There should be no possible way a single man could complete the wall that could repel the giants and trolls with only a horse and six months of time. The logic was sound and the advice was good.

But I never expected the hulk Svadilfari to be so strong and have so much endurance to haul giant stone blocks all day and night; the worst part was that they were on schedule to finish on time and there were only three days remaining before the old build would receive his payment of Freya as a wife and the sun and moon.

Odin and all the other gods were pissed, then they beat me up, saying it was my fault that they were going to lose so much to some random stranger. I was then made to solve the problem, to delay the builder just enough so that the bet would be won by the gods.

So after some time thinking, I knew there was no way I could trick the builder if he was so crafty as to trick him with Svadilfari's excellence as a helper. He would probably see through most of what he would do and there was no way he could outright kill the guy, something I wished wasn't part of the bargain. Instead, I thought that if I could draw the hulk of a hauler away long enough to delay the materials being brought to the wall, my work would be done and my friends appeased.

That was why I turned myself into the perfect mare for Svadilfari to look upon, a girl with horse ears and tail, and only a little shorter than him; good looking enough to make that whore Freya jealous.

Just beyond the clearing where the Svadilfari was working, I breathed in and walked out of the forest to entice the mighty stallion away from his work.
