Chapter 9 by deathofcards deathofcards

What next?

Kids in the hall

As you’re staring at the notices on the board, the noise from the corridor starts to get louder. You wonder what’s going on to cause such a lot of noise. You walk down the hall and turn the corner to see where all the noise is coming from. In the middle of the short corridor you can see a group of guys stood in a circle throwing someone’s bag between them. In the middle you can see someone desperately trying to get their bag back but from your vantage point you’re too far away to make out who it is exactly.

You recognise a couple of the guy’s from the year below you. You don’t know any of them personally but you’ve seen them around school on several occasions. You walk closer to them and try to get a better look at who it is that’s in the middle. Peering to one side you can see that it’s a girl from your year. The girl was Taylor who had some of the highest grades in the entire school. Taylor tended to get picked one because she was smart and successful but she dressed down and never made any attempt to make herself look attractive. The two of you had been good friend when you were younger, but you’d drifted apart when you had got to highschool. Taylor was an attractive girl, but she was more interested in school than boys.

You walk up closer to the guy’s and grab the closest one by the backpack, pulling him backwards forcefully. Your actions divert their attention from Taylor and the guy you grabbed shakes off your grip and turns to face you.

“What’s your problem?” He asks angrily.

“Leave her alone, she hasn’t done anything wrong.”

“What’s it got to do with you?” He asks.

One of his friends comes over to join him holding Taylor’s bag, trying to make it look like he’s giving him some back up. You can see a nervous look in his eyes, as you tower over him.

“She’s not done anything wrong. I suggest you leave her alone.” You tell them.

“Fuck off, stay out of this. It’s none of your business.” He barks.

“Well I’m making it my business.” You reply.

His friend grabs his shirt trying to pull him away. “I think we should just leave it Paul.”

You notice the other two have disappeared since you interference. Paul shoves his friend away slightly, trying to make it look like he’s not at all worried by what you’re saying.

“Shut up Jimmy. He’s just talking big that’s all. He isn’t going to do anything.” Paul says.

You beg to differ. Before Paul can react further you clench your fist. You lean in closer and swing for him. It all seems to happen in slow motion as you draw your fist closer to Paul’s face. A resounding crack reverberates around the room, shortly before Paul hits the floor. As time seems to go faster, you realise Paul is clutching his nose in his hands as it streams with blood. Jimmy takes one look at you and his eyes fill with fear as he thinks he is going to be next and promptly takes off down the corridor dropping Taylor’s bag. You reach in closer and haul Paul off the floor by the collar, bringing him up to eye level. His eyes are filled with terror and he looks like he’s about to cry.

“Now, if you ever touch her or anyone else again. I’ll be waiting for you and next time I won’t just break your nose.” You shout at him and then drop him to floor. Paul quickly gets up and follows his friends.

The adrenalin rush fades from your system, and you realise your knuckles are really hurting. Your grimace slightly and try to put it from your mind. You pick up Taylor’s bag from the floor. You aware of the fact that Taylor has been watching the whole event she’s staring at you wide eyed. Her look is a mixture of fear and admiration. You walk over to her and hand her back her bag. Her eyes are red from crying.

“Are you alright Taylor?” You ask.

“Yeah, I guess.” She replies her voice trembling slightly.

“Look let’s get you cleaned up.” You say to her, putting your arm around her.

She pulls you in tighter to her. You lead her down the corridor to the girl’s toilets. The thought that there might be other people in there never crosses your mind. You push the door open and lead her inside. You shut the door tightly behind you, and put your bag down in front of it to try and prevent anyone else entering while you look after Taylor.

Taylor had on a pair of thick-rimmed black glasses. She was wearing a large grey woollen top and a long black skirt. Her figure was totally hidden by her outfit. She had her hair up in a tight bun. Taylor had grabbed some tissues and was cleaning up her face. She turned to face you and smiled at you the first time. She walked over to you and hugged you tightly. You could feel her breasts pressing up against you slightly through her top.

“Thanks, Blair. I really do appreciate you helping me out back there.” Taylor tells you.

“It’s nothing, those guys were assholes. They won’t be bothering you again.” You reply.

Taylor steps back and smiles widely at you. “You were brilliant.” She compliments you. Her smile falters and you can see tears welling up in her eyes again.

“What’s wrong, Taylor?” You ask.

She starts to cry again. “I’m just fed up of getting bullied because I do lot’s of hard work.”

You hug her and she rests her head on you chest. “I know it’s hard but they’re just jealous that’s all.” You say trying to comfort her. She just sighs in response.

“I’m just fed up with it that’s all. Normally it never really bothers me but I’m just tired of the only time a guy pays me any attention is when he wants me to do his homework.” Taylor replies despondently.

“Just once I’d like a guy to talk to me because he’s interested in me.” She continues.

You never even realised that Taylor was that interested in guys, she also seemed too concerned with her grades than anything else. Her tears are running down her face making her eyes red again. You kiss her on the forehead.

“I like you Taylor.” You tell her.

She looks up at you in shock. “I’d never really thought of you in that way Blair. I know we’ve drifted apart over the years but I only ever really saw you as a friend. It kind of makes me wonder if you’re just saying that out of sympathy.” She replies.

Truthfully you’ve never looked at Taylor in that way, but you’ve always felt a little attracted to her. “No I really do like you Taylor.” You repeat. This time she doesn’t respond, she gazes into your eyes with a look of inquisitiveness and slight lust. You move your lips down to meet hers and kiss her on the lips. At first she seems a little uncertain but then press her lips back against yours. Gradually she begins to open her mouth and lets your tongue inside. You gently caress Taylor’s tongue with yours, at first she just lets you explore her mouth but after awhile starts to react your actions in kind.

Taylor breaks off your kiss. “I’m sorry Blair this is going a little too fast for me. I like you too but I’m not sure what to do right now.

She pushes past you and heads towards the door moving your bag. She turns to face you smiling at you again. “Give me a ring later Blair.” She tells you.

“Okay, Taylor I’ll phone you later.” You reply.

She pulls the door open and heads out into the corridor disappearing from view. You can’t help feeling a little confused by it all. You just kissed one of your childhood friends, and something might happen between you. All alone in the girl’s bathroom you wonder what to do next. Go find your buddy Scott, You could still sign up for the drama group. An alternative dirtier idea comes to mind, you could hide in the girl’s toilets and see what happens.

What do you do now?
