Search The Woods

"I'm not stoked about where this Summer is going." Gale said, scanning the woods for any sign of Grace.

"Poor Alex, she looked awful."

"It'll be okay, this isn't exactly Yellowstone."

Amy huffed, and did her own scan of the treeline. To either side of her she could see another pair of sisters, doing their won search. "We're a bunch of rich college girls. I think this is plenty wilderness for one of us to get lost.

"I guess." They walked together in silence for a bit, keeping up with the sweep the rest of the sorority was using. "So what was that with Parker?"

Amy raised an eyebrow. "I know right? She thinks she's talking to God?"

"I told you she, was freaking out last night about the comet. I bet she thinks she actually brought it over us."

"How dumb can you get?"

Gale laughed. "She's not the sharpest tack in the box, I'll give you that."

"I just want us to be friends," Amy said in a mocking tone. "As if."

"Gee." Gale pushed away some plants and they moved into the woods. "I can't imagine why everyone turned against you."

"Hey, you know why."

Gale rolled her eyes. "I know a reason. But it's not like you didn't give everyone else plenty of reasons to hate you. Unless you want to have a very lonely senior year, I think you should use this summer to revamp your image."

"Revamp how?" Amy didn't like the sound of a very lonely senior year.

"Let's start by finding Grace, who can be angry at a hero?"

Amy nodded and looked a little harder. Up ahead, she spotted something. "Sssh, I think I hear something." She stopped, and her ears twitched, trying to pick up whatever radio signals were out there amongst the leaves.

"Oh my gosh, do that again!"

"I can't, I'm empty."

"Wooooow, just look at all of this."

Amy squeezed her eyebrows together. "It's The Twins." She said finally and moved forward to join them in the clearing they'd found. "Hey, you two." The twins were still holding hands like they had been this morning. Day was pressed up against a tree, and Night was weirdly close to her, when Amy and Gale walked in on the scene. They jumped when they heard her voice, and looked like they'd just been caught doing ****. "Did you already search your area?"

Day blushes, and shook her head, looking sheepish and shy. "No, we were just taking a break."

Gale stood next to Amy. "What were you doing? Drinking hand sanitizer?" She gestured to Night, who had her free hand cupped, and filled with some kind of clear liquid that Amy hadn't noticed until now.

"No!" Night huffed, powering her hand, and letting the thick stuff drip to the floor like slime. Amy caught Day eyeing the stuff, and couldn't quite place the look on her face. Fear? Regret? Lust? "Shouldn't you be stealing someone's boyfriend?"

Amy huffed. "Shouldn't the two of you be haunting a hotel?"

Gale huffed next. "Shouldn't we all be looking for Grace?"

"You're so annoying when you're right." Amy mumbled, and then took a deep dark breath. This next part would require an incredible amount of willpower to pull off. "listen you two. I'm sorry for everything I did during the election. I had a talk with Parker today, but you deserve an apology as well. My behavior injured everyone, it injured The House, and I'm sorry."

"Yeah." Night nodded her head.

"Okay." Day nodded her head.

"Okay." Amy grabbed Gale's, hand and the two of them left The Twins to continue slacking off.

"I'm proud of you," Gale whispered.

"Think it worked?"

Gale sighed. "It's not about working. It's about whether they believed you."

"Think they believed me?"

"Not a chance."

The two of them shoved foliage out of the way and scanned for their target. "So... were they giving off..."

"Incesty vibes?"

"Omg!" Amy cheered. "You were picking up on it too?"

"Yeah, they were acting like we caught them making out or something."

"Maybe that stuff on Night's hand was lube." Gale giggled to herself.

"You are so gross." Amy shook her head, and then just like that their search came to an end. Just around a tree a few feet ahead, they could see the fence to The Camp. A ranch-style barrier surrounded the entire parcel of land. Grace would have had to have jumped it to get any further.

Both girls looked to their left and right. Much of their sorority was already lined up along the fence, none of them looking very fruitful.

Amy gritted her teeth and smacked a tree. Anger, frustration, and sheer confusion cutting into her. "Not a single sign?"
