Five

Lorriane facetimed two of her best friends, Jaqueline and Melissa. They had regular group calls. They were all very different as people, but somehow they worked well as a group.

They both answered, they were usually available at this time.

"Hey girls!!!" said Lorriane, with a polite giggle.

"Hey girl!! You look gorgeous OMG!" said Melissa.

"Hello! It's true, whatever you did today, it's working" said Jaqueline. They all laughed politely.

"How are you girls? How did that meeting go Jaqueline?" said Lorriane.

"Ugh, the usual. A bunch of guys talking down to me like I don't know what I'm taling about" said Jaqueline, she owned her own construction company, it was quite successful, she had a few dozen employees "but I put them all in their place. It's always such an inconvenience."

"I know right, men just love to swing their dick around just so we know it's there" said Melissa.

"Melissa! Language!" said Jaqueline, slightly offended but trying to stay polite "that's not very appropriate of you. But yes it was a drag. And to top it all off, during lunch I went clothes shopping and asked a PAID employee of the store to go fetch me a size and she said I could go find it myself! Can you beleive it!"

"Ugh, that's just utterly unacceptable!" said Lorriane.

"Quite so, I had to ask for the manager. Thankfully she was admonished" said Jaqueline, sounding pleased with herself.

"Of course, she should be!" said Lorriane "you'll have to show me the dress you bought. I got one today to but I don't know! Ahh!" she said playfully.

"I bet you look so sexy in it, you always do" said Melissa.

"Oh my god stop it!" laughed Lorriane "you're one to talk you sexy beast! I bet you've been on one of your adventures since we last spoke"

"Well... you know me" laughed Melissa, she was the sluttiest of the three. She had a steady boyfriend but she regularly slept with other men. It was unclear if he boyfriend knew or not.

"Ohh... do tell!" said Lorriane. She was slightly jealous of Melissa's adventures but at the same time she couldn't bear the idea of being unmarried in her 40s.

"Let's just say these young kids know tricks guys our age would never dream of!" said Melissa with a giggle.

"Oh you devil!" said Lorriane "you'll have to tell us the full story at some point".

"I'd love to hear too but please tone down the obscenities, we don't need to hear the explicit detail" said Jaqueline.

"Fine, I won't tell you where he licked me then" laughed Melissa. Jaqueline shook her head in mock disapproval.

"Anyway girls, I just wanted to call you because I had an idea, I don't kow might be crazy but let me know what you think" said Lorriane "so basically, you remember the charity ball we had a couple of years that raised so much money for kids in cancer?"

"Oh my god bless them, that was so nice" said Jaqueline.

"It was very nice yeah, I have such a nice memory of it" said Melissa.

"We should totally do it again" said Lorriane.

"Yaaas!" said Melissa.

"What a lovely idea!" said Lorriane.

"But I think the cause this year should be diversity and inclusivity!" said Lorriane "what do you think? I think we'd make such great organizers"

"Oh that's wonderful! It would be so fun to organize a party with you girls" said Melissa.

"Yes! That's such an important cause. I'm all on board!" said Jaqueline.

"Ahhhh! Exciting!!" said Lorriane "we should do brunch soon so we can talk it over!"

"Totally! Any excuse is good for that botomless mimosa brunch" said Melissa. Jaqueline laughed politely.

"I'm so excited!" said Lorriane "I have to go though, I need to get ready to go out"

"Ahh! Exciting!" said Jaqueline mimicking Lorriane "I'll see you later then, I should get back to work too".

"See you at brunch!" said Melissa.

Lorriane hung up, smiling to herself. She suddenly felt great about herself.

She went upstairs to get ready. It would take her a few hours to look at her best. She would wear a dress she had tried and tested, she couldn't be taking risks at a fancy restaurant.
