Pretend to remain

You stay loose and as relaxed as possible, considering your situation. This man seems to be a complete savage. It doesn't seem possible he is a native of the island, given his clearly European descent. Moreover, there supposedly aren't any inhabited islands in the area. But given the man's state, it seems likely he's been here for a long time.

Perhaps he was shipwrecked like you were; but if that's the case, he must have been here for a very long time to be in the state that he is in. Also given the state that he's in, you realize you have no idea why he wanted to capture you and what he is planning to do with you. Did he only subdue you out of fear of the unknown, or was he hunting you like he perhaps hunts animals on the island and intend to use you for food?

Your mind races through these options and every other iteration you can think of, but your thoughts are drawn short suddenly as he enters a clearing that he clearly considers home, based on the looks of it. There is a crude shelter built of branches stacked together and covered by big leaves, and there are some hollowed out gourds with water lying around a fire pit circled by stones.

He throws you down on the ground, none too gently. Before you can think to try to remain ****, you grunt with pain and shift to relieve the pain of your landing. You look up at him. He towers over you, shoulders drawn back, fists clenched, teeth bared. A low, grunting growl rumbles in his throat. Though he has not said a word, his meaning could not be more plain: stay right where you are.

You have a brief thought of trying to run away, but quickly realize that the only way you could go and not get immediately caught in the thick foliage is back along the path he has brought you; and he is much faster and stronger than you are. You would not escape and all that would happen is that he'd get angrier. Thoughts of attacking him quickly subside as well. First of all, he is fast and powerful while you are weak and exhausted; and so second, you would need some kind of weapon and the only apparent option would be one of the gourds lying around the clearing, which don't look promising.

So you're going to have to comply, at least for the moment, and stay right where you are. However, are you going to just sit there quietly and submissively, or try to communicate with him?
