Prep Phase

A funny thing happens when you are given complete freedom of choice. You will almost immediately find yourself unable to make any kind of actual decisions. Personally, when I find myself in similar situations, I start with a list.

"Alright. Three days at best, till I have to defend myself from Religious Zealots and Monster Girls. So, what do I need to do that..." I begin.

It's times like these that I'm really glad I keep a whiteboard in my house.

"Well, first of all, a defensible location. I could probably find a nice little empty demiplane, but even if I did, with no standing structures there, I'd be a sitting duck. So I should probably try and find something already built. Second, some kind of passive defensive ability. A **** field of some kind, or something similar. Actually, now that I'm saying it out loud, that actually seems like a better thing to start with."

Clearing my whiteboard, I begin writing out possibilities.

"Alright, first up, Aura from RWBY. Pros: Learnable in seconds, Comes with a secondary ability, and with it comes the use of Dust which I can get a good supply of while I'm there. Cons... Well, it's not super strong, and it apparently takes time to learn to maintain."

"Second, a shield system from Mass Effect or Borderlands. Pros: Completely autonomous, Recharges quickly when broken, Wearable. Cons: Somehow even weaker than Aura, if the games are anything to go by, Recharge Delay, and it can be removed by my enemies just as easily as it can by me."

"Third Possibility, The Omnitirx from Ben 10. Pros: Automatically saves the user from **** by transforming them into something that can save them, Comes with a wide array of other abilities, and is easily the strongest choice. Cons: It has a time limit, can't protect me from things other than **** passively, and something tells me that I'm not going to be able to convince Azmuth to give me Master Control."

I take a step back to get some perspective.

"Well, all three cover each other, so I guess it's a question of which one to go for first," I say, approaching the board again, "Well, the Omnitrix is certainly the riskiest choice. I'd rather not have to pick a fight with Ben and his friends in case I accidentally fuck something up and get made before I can get the watch. So that one's certainly not first. And while Mass Effect is certainly the easiest of options since I believe all I need to do is go to a store and buy one, I feel like RWBY is the best first choice. After all, I can only control four slaves at once, and teams in that world come in fours. Lines up almost perfectly, no?"

"Well. That settles it. Off to Remnant I go," I say as I open the portal.
