Pre-Fight: Archer vs Shirou

A/N: I added a link to skip the fight if you want to. It is four chapters long. O.o .. But it is possibly one of the most significant fights of the story.

You begin heading towards the temple where Caster has made her base for Rider to complete her end of the bargain and are stopped before you make it to your destination by Rider quickly rescuing you from an arrow shot from great distance. "Shirou. We have company." Rider says as you look around. "Where?" You ask as Rider shields you yet again, plucking an arrow out of midair as it's shot at inhumane speeds.

Archer walks into the scene from stage right. "You're faster than I thought, Rider. Quite impressive catching my arrow in flight." You look at the servant as he walks in with his Master. "Rin! We don't have to fight!" You yell, trying to get her attention. "Save your breath, Shirou Emiya. This fight is between you and me." Archer replies. "Rin will not be a participant this time."

"Oh? And why is that? What did you do to her?? You Monster!" Archer let's out a hmmph and small laugh. "Listen to you. Righteous to a fault. I was once like you, Shirou Emiya." "I'm nothing like you!" You retort. "Oh? Is it not true that you aspire to be a hero? That you place all others above yourself, even to the point to allow yourself to be harmed or killed for a stranger?" Archer asks.

How does he know? You think as you say "Yeah! What's the problem with that!?" You ask. 'The problem with that, is those ideals are flawed. They will only lead to your destruction." "And how do you know what my ideals will lead to? We're not the same!" You exclaim. "Oh but we are, Shirou Emiya. And those same ideals were once my ideals. I cannot begin to tell you how many lives I have taken in the name of justice. To destroy tens of thousands of lives, to save millions. The way forward is coated with blood, Shirou Emiya."

"It won't be that way for me! I'm better than you!" You exclaim. "Then prove it by fighting me." He turns his head towards Rin who has been paying rapt attention to Archer this whole time. "Watch closely, Master. And listen closer. "

Archer's head turns back towards you as he clearly says the phrase...
