Please don’t stop the music!

Ben arrived at the dance hall for the school’s dance wearing the white tux he obtained from Tux Deluxe earlier today with some matching shoes to complete the set. Ben looked around at the many people arriving in their fancy cars or was like him being dropped off by someone else. There was a check-in station before anybody could enter the hall, which Ben assumed was to keep anybody not supposed to attend from entering. Ben scanned the line and found his friend Alex with his girlfriend Abigail. Alex was wearing a black tux with a white A pinned to his left shoulder. Abigail, on the other hand, wore a long maxi black dress with matching high heels. Ben noticed that dress did a pretty good job of showing off her legs as he walked up to them and joined them in line.

“Hey Ben, glad to see you made it.”

“Well, it's not like I had a choice since a lost a bet to you.”

“You made him come here as a result of a bet,” said Abigail as she elbowed him in the chest.

“You make it sound like I did a bad thing. I just wanted him to have some more fun, that’s all. My intentions were nothing but pure” says Alex as he scratches the back of his head.

“Are you sure that you didn’t want someone else to carry your **** body once you get knocked out by Dan?” said Abigail slightly concerned.

“Knocked out? Why? I thought you and Dan were cool.”

“It turns out that Winter and her cheerleading friends were overheard by someone when they were discussing some private information. They asked Winter that if she had to choose one of the men on the football team to date then it would be me.”

“The safe choice in my opinion” frowned Abigail not liking this particular topic.

“Safe option, why?”

“Well, if she chose me then she could easily come up with the excuse that I’m in a relationship as the reason why she didn’t ask me out already. If she chose anybody else, then I’m sure her teammates would give their support in asking the person out, which I’m sure is the last thing she wants.”

“You seem to know a lot about what she wants.”

“Abigail, she’s just a friend, there’s nothing more.”

“I think there’s a bit more to it than that. Besides when there’s smoke there’s a fire.”

“Is this why you were so upset at the mention of this topic?”

“Not the only reason.”

Alex sighs and says, “The problem with this topic is how we got the information in the first place. Apparently, the cheerleaders were in the girl’s locker room when they were discussing this topic and none of the people there leaked this information, so someone must’ve been spying on them.”

“Whoever this guy is messed up by leaking this information. It’s only a matter of time before the cheerleaders or the school enact some form of punishment.”

“I see why your so upset now but redirecting the conversation back to my original question; why is Dan going to beat you up?”

“Dan has feelings for Winter, and now that Dan thinks I’m the reason she isn’t confessing to him, he’s going to retaliate in some way. My best guess is by beating the crap out of me. Honestly, he needs to get his head out of his ass.”

The three of us made it to the front of the line and showed our school ids to get in. Music was blasting through the speakers as people ate, danced, and conversed with one another. Ben went to go grab himself a plate of food as Alex and Abigail went onto the dance floor. Ben got a plate full of ham, mac and cheese, and kidney beans. Ben also went over to the beverage station to get something to drink. They had the options of water, punch, and soda. Ben grabbed some water as he sat at one of the empty tables and watched the various couples on the dance floor. Ben ate his food and thought that he could spice things up a bit since he didn’t have a date anyway.

“It’s normal for the punch at this dance to reverse genders for all the men who drink it and **** the women to develop random animal traits for the next 24 hours. It’s also normal that these changes won’t cause the people attending the dance to leave for this reason.”

Ben didn’t see an immediate change and remembered that his watch was still set to the baby, which means that from now on that statement would be normal. Ben decided to watch the drink station and see who approached the punch bowl first. The first one to approach was a woman wearing a fancy blue dress that clung to her body and showed off her figure. Ben knew this person to be Winter as she chose the punch to drink. She drank the punch as Ben quickly scanned over her figure to see what was going to change about her. Ben must’ve been looking too much as Winter noticed him, walked over, and sat down on the opposite side of his table.

“Hey, you’re Ben, right?”

“That’s right, I’m surprised you know my name.”

“I just know what I know. I did notice you staring pretty hard at me a second ago not that I mind.”

“Sorry for staring, but you’re rocking that dress.”

“Thanks,” said Winter as cat ears magically appeared on top of her head.

Ben had to hold off his laughter as he tried to continue the conversation.

“So, where’s your date? I’m someone as smart and beautiful as you have one around here somewhere.”

“Unfortunately, I came alone but I don’t see a date with you either.”

“He’s my date.”

Ben didn’t get to reply as behind him wearing a sexy red dress was Kate. Why was Kate here, and why did she just call herself my date?

“I see. Who are you by the way?”

“I’m Kate and you are?”

“Winter, please to make your acquaintance. I wouldn’t want to interrupt anything, so I’ll just be going.”

Winter left the table and headed toward the food while Kate sat down beside him.

“Hey Kate, always a pleasure to see you, but why did you come out of nowhere announcing that you’re my date. Also, don’t you have a boyfriend?”

“I broke up with the guy and came to this dance to figure out why he seemed to be so obsessed with the watch that placed into your possession. I didn’t know if we would see each other again so I just decided to come to find you here.”

Ben thought it was weird that she broke up with Jake, but the normality that he used made her fall in love with him and not necessarily stay in love with him. Without the watch to help him maybe she just stopped living him. It makes sense that she would find me after he probably begged her over and over to get the watch. Ben knew that Jake wasn’t a problem with the normalities he made so he decided to leave him be. In Kate’s case, it's weird, but he didn’t want to use the watch to **** Kate to love him. Ben wanted her to love him without the use of the watch’s powers, even so, he wasn’t going to give up the thing that has been turning his life around.

“It is worth quite a bit of money in the right hands, but I’ve grown attached to the watch and don’t want to get rid of it.”

Kate nodded in response and replied, “That concludes my business, but I could still be your date if you’re up for it. I am available now.”

“I’d love to be your date.”

“May I have this dance then.”

“Gladly.”

We both went to the dance floor and danced the cha-cha slide as more and more people changed around us. One girl grew a lizard’s tail while another gained pig ears. People were changing left and right as we danced to our heart's content. Everyone was freaking out in one way or another. Ben ignored all the chaos around him as he enjoyed the time spent with Kate. Eventually, Ben and Kate got tired of dancing and joined up with Alex and Abigail. Abigail looked the same other than the fact that her whole body was covered in scales now. It wasn’t half as funny as I saw Alex in female form. Alex’s face was a lot more feminine now and a surprisingly much better figure than Abigail. Good genes I’m guessing. I laughed at him as Alex glared at me.

“I guess I should call you Alexia now huh.”

“Don’t even joke about that. Why don’t you turn into a girl instead? Here take some punch.”

“Hey, at least you won’t have to worry about Dan beating you up since it would look pretty bad if he beat up a woman.”

“Great. Really great.”

“Who’s your dance partner? I haven’t seen her around before.”

“This is Kate, my date for tonight.”

“Is it the Kate?”

“Dude.”

“Sorry man, I’m a little out of sorts at the moment.”

“Don’t mind him, it's just we won’t be having as much fun as we could’ve had with all this happening.”

Kate jumped into the conversation, “Ah the wink, wink, nudge, nudge. I understand.”

“I’m sure you guys can experiment in other ways with this opportunity.”

“Great suggestion, not doing it.”

Ben laughed as the four of them talked, danced, and generally had fun for the rest of the night. Kate took Ben home in her car as Alexia and Abigail left the dance together to do who knows what. Just kidding. Everyone knows its sex.

Kate walked Ben to his door and started talking.

“I had a good time tonight. The best night that I had in a while honestly.”

“I’m glad to hear that, and with your number, I’m planning on having more in the future.”

Kate didn’t say anything more as she kissed Ben on the lips.

“I’ll see you soon.”

Kate walked back into her car and drove off. Ben was overjoyed with how great the night has been. Never would he thought that Kate would come to him and start a relationship. Ben didn’t even need the watch to make it happen or to increase to unfavorable increase his chances of making it happen. The tux might have played a part, but who didn’t like looking good. Ben headed inside and headed to his room to change and rest. Ben looked down to arm to see that the watch was gone. Who? How? Of course, the only person who had the opportunity to take it was Kate. Ben was furious and disappointed at how he was used. Ben couldn’t believe how easily he was tricked. Ben felt foolish for believing that she might’ve liked him for him instead of what he had.
