Chapter 3 by nahdude nahdude

Where does her story begin?

Playing a game with her older sister

Hi, I'm Emily, and boy do I have a story for you. I'm an 18 year old high school senior that is nearing the end of the school year, and that means I'll be headed off to college in less than six months. I can hardly comprehend the idea of leaving my family, friends, and childhood behind when I leave for Rocky Mountain University in the fall.

All my life I've always been pretty middle of the pack. Not too nerdy, or lame, but also not the most popular girl in school. And frankly, I liked it. I managed to avoid the stupid drama bullshit that the popular girls seem to attract while still having a few close friends.

My older sister, Ashley, couldn't be more different. Though she just graduated college, she seemed in no rush to give up the partying and chaotic lifestyle she had gotten used to in her time at university. She was smart, pretty, and driven. Being "middle of the pack" was simply not an option for her.

As such, she always was on my case about being more "daring" and taking more risks. Usually I laughed it off or ignored her, but once graduation began inching closer and closer, I started to give more credence to her suggestions.

Which leads us to tonight. Ashley moved back home after graduating from university in January, a full semester early. Like I said before, she's a party animal but the girl is smart. The night began like most other weekday nights for the past month. I loaded up on easy classes for my last semester since I already got accepted to college, so I didn't have any homework to do. Instead, I spent it how any other teenage girl would: browsing social media and streaming my favorite TV show in my room.

I did this for an hour or so before I heard a knock at the door.

"Come in." I say half-heartedly to whoever is knocking. Don't they know I'm busy?

I look up to see Ashley enter my room, wearing a long t-shirt with only a hint of evidence that she was wearing shorts underneath. A usual attire for her, unless she was going out she stuck to whatever was comfortable for her to wear.

"Hey Emily, whatcha up to?" Ashley asks in a manner that tells me she has something planned.

"Nothing really, just watching some TV here. Fascinating, I know." I reply, hoping whatever she wanted wasn't going to take long. I'm on the season finale damnit!

"Yeah, I thought so. Listen, I was thinking, ever since I got back we hardly ever spend any time together, and we live in the same house! You're going to be leaving in a few months and I think we really need to get some sister bonding time in together. Come on, put that laptop down and let's DO something" Ashley says, as she closes my laptop herself, forcing me to pay attention to her.

"Aw come on, there was only ten minutes left!" I groan. Whatever, I can finish it later. Clearly Ashley is bored and wants to hang out before I leave.

"Oh shut up, it can wait. We used to be so close, Emily, it's time we start hanging out again!" Ashley retorts.

"Uh, okay, well what did you have in mind?" I ask. Ashley was right. I missed hanging out with her all the time when she was still in high school.

"Well, I thought maybe we could play a game." She suggests playfully.

"Oh wow. I can't even remember the last game we played together. What kind of game?" I respond. I'm not sure what she had in mind, but I was down for nearly anything. I could already tell it was going to be a fun night, I'm not sure why we haven't hung out until now.

"Hmm... how about...

What game do they play?
