Chapter 27 by brevdravis brevdravis

Time to ask a question.

Play Hardball (THE END) (Bad End)

"You ever been mistaken for a man?" I smirked at Helen playfully.

"No. Have you?" She replied and got a quick Hi-five from Charlotte.

"I don't think you're allowed to make that joke any more." I pointed out.

"Ugh, seriously? Do not be that guy." Helen remarked. "Just don't be THAT guy."

"What guy are you talking about?" Kaila asked, taking a swig of her soda and relaxing against me again.

"The guy who has to win everything. I make a good joke, and you have to ruin it." Helen replied, taking a breath and looking at the fire. "You know... this game isn't as much fun as I thought it was going to be. I think I'm out."

"I think you're right." Kaila nodded, picking up her phone and flipping through it. "I see why we got this place so cheap, by the way. There's nothing really to do here."

"Well, I mean, unless you want to go in the back and..." I offered, to a round booing from everyone.

"Maybe later." Kaila remarked, her fingers tapping on the screen. "Love you, but... still kinda worn out from the trip down here."

We didn't end up doing much for the next few hours, just sat around and played on our cell phones. It got pretty boring, and at the end of the evening, we decided that the best thing to do was just call it a night. Kaila wasn't in the mood, and the sound of the rain outside made it easy to just fall right asleep.

The next morning, we found a note from Charlotte, placed right on the front door, where we couldn't possibly miss it.

"Kaila,

Thanks for putting us up and up with us.We found another place to stay.

Thanks again,

Charlotte

Helen"

The End__
