Picking Up Amy

Dani could tell Spencer was on edge. She kept her mouth shut, doubting anything she could say would make him feel better. She also had her own fears when it came to Amy. Spencer had told her very little about his daughter, and she knew it was possible she wouldn't take to the new relationship well.

Once Dani pulled up, Spencer got out of the car. He could already feel the eyes of many mothers lock on to him and Dani, but they weren't his concern. His concern was his daughter, who already had a feeling something was off when she saw him outside of his SUV.

"What's up dad?"

"I've got someone for you to meet."

"Oh... okay." Amy spoke with a sense of uneasiness, a tone that Spencer had expected, yet still found concerning. Spencer led Amy to Dani's car, where she got into the back.

"Hey Amy. I'm Dani."

"Hey Dani."

After a deep breath, Spencer got back into the car. "So, Dani and I are seeing each other."

"Uh, as in dating?"

"Yeah."

"Oh. Okay then."

There was a moment of silence as Dani took off, but after a deep breath Spencer said "I know it's rather sudden."

"It's okay dad... In fact, I think it's good."

Spencer was somewhat taken aback by his daughter's reply, but he found it comforting nonetheless.

"So what happened?"

"Uhh, a date went a little longer than we had planned."

"I suppose that's all I need to hear of that."

Dani chuckled, trying her best not to take her eyes off the road and onto Spencer's blushing face. When the arrive at Spencer's house, he said "Want to come in for a coffee?"

"Sure, why not?"
