Path of a Righteous Man

“Gwen... it’s not your fault” you say “he made the decision and it was the wrong one... moving on is the first step.”

Gwen breaks into a full sob and cries, “why wouldn’t it be my fault, I was the one who wouldn’t put out.” You look at her with sad eyes, you can’t understand who would do this to a girl this sweet.

You hug Gwen tight, she cries into your chest, repeating “why?” to herself over and over. “Gwen, he doesn’t deserve you and you DEFINITELY don’t deserve this bullshit...” you start to rub her back to make her feel comfortable. “It’s going to be alright Gwen... I promise you.”

Gwen stops crying as hard and lays down, she looks up at you, still crying softly, and says “lay with me please? I don’t want to have sex... I just need someone near me right now.”

You can’t believe what you’re hearing, “the most popular girl in school, is asking me to lay with her? 5 minutes ago she didn’t even know my name!” you think to yourself.

“Gwen, I’m not sure I’m what you need right no-“ “Please stay?” she asks, clearly wanting just another presence with her. “I’ll stay, but only until I think you don’t need me anymore” you say.

Gwen beckons you beside her and slowly stops crying “thank you” she says, as she wipes her nose. “It’s completely fine Gwen” you lay down next to her.

Gwen pulls your arm over her, putting your hand on her stomach “I hope you don’t mind... could we cuddle?” Gwen asks, looking as helpless as ever. “It’s okay with me” you pull her closer to your body and lay her head down just under your chin.

You fall asleep with her in your arms, with her being completely free of tears and happy for the first time all day.
