Chapter 3
by Odysseus
How does the fight go?
Outrageously poorly
A cloaked figured laid on the couch at the back of the room, a grimoire resting in their hand. Candles were spread across the room, a small purple flame levitating over each one. To the left of the figure, a large bed, to the right, a desk covered with books and writing utensils. Tristan raised his sword and charged.
The figure did not look away from its grimoire but did raise their hand. A ball of green light materialized out of their palm and flew towards Tristan, creating a whizzing sound as it travelled faster than an arrow. The spell hit Tristan and he froze in place, his body feeling numb. He tried to keep moving, to close the gap between himself and his target, but his body was no longer his to control.
The figure placed the book down and moved toward Tristan. She, and Tristan could now she that it was a she, pulled down her hood, so that he could see the face of his foe. The Succubus had pale white skin and soft red eyes. Her hair was short for a woman, reaching no further than her ears. Two small horns poked out from her temples but they were miss-able if one didn’t pay attention. The sketch on the monster hunting poster portrayed the Succubus as some Medusa like fiend, snakes for hair, scales for skin, and grinning with shark teeth. The Succubus could pass for a farmer’s daughter if she did a better job at hiding her horns.
“Is this a trap?” asked the Succubus, “or did you really come to fight me without any enchantments? The last knight to try this at least had an amulet to ward off basic hexes, though it didn’t do well against my thunderbolt. Speak boy.”
The Succubus snapped her fingers and the spell lifted. The momentum Tristan had prior returned and he fell forward, collapsing at the creatures feet.
“You demon,” Tristan yelled at the monster. She sent a small blast of lighting at him in response, singeing his hair.
“I take it you are just an idiot then,” said the succubus. A flash of green and Tristan felt paralysed again. “Why are all the best looking ones so dumb? Shame.”
Tristan was stuck, his nose planted into the stony floor, and only able to out of the corner of his eyes. The Succubus moved through the room, and he could hear her flipping through pages and mixing liquids.
“I think I know what I will do with you,” she said. Tristan saw a flash of red and then the world went dark.
How does he awake?
