Opportunity

“Hi… Hello?” Derek asked as he took the phone from his mother.

“Is this Derek Layland?” A woman’s voice asked.

“Y…yes…”

“My name is Ann Barton. I’m with DCC Productions. We produce TV shows and we’d like you to be the star of our next project…”

Derek listened intently. They wanted to do a show that focused on him and Saddlebrook’s football team members who were pregnant with his children. It was going to be one of those basic cable fly on the wall shows under the “working” title of “I Knocked Up The Football Team”.

He said yes.

A few weeks later, the family was sitting with the network and production company executives, hashing out the details.

The producers would pay him $500,000, $50,000 to each of the mothers and find families for any of the children the girls didn’t want.

They tried to pitch a dating show aspect as well to him, picking a wife out of one of the pregnant girls, but he shut it down, saying that even if she was infertile, he still loved Elois.

Twenty episodes would be filmed for a first season, with a potential follow up after the babies were born.
