One Woman

In the Order of Light that was not unusual. The order was often **** to send lone knights out into the wild with little support. It was an environment that wasn't well suited to the unadaptable. Clearly, the Arch-Priestess thought that the new frontier would be similar.

You'd been a squire in this harsh school, one who had eventually been deemed worthy. Your achievements often going little known or appreciated. The one thing that you could think of that might have brought you to the Arch-Priestesses attention was when you had faced down an orc war party in defense of the Devoted.

The small village hadn't had a proper militia. They'd grown complacent, their home in a cave making them think that nobody would come looking for them or that they could hold the narrow entryway against all comers. Except that plan only made sense when there was a proper lookout. It was only luck or providence that you'd been beside the door when the orcs had come knocking.

The villagers were right about the point being defensible but there was an entire orc war party outside wanting to get at the warm holes within. You were left facing them alone.
