Chapter 24

what happens next?
On to the Hospital
A scream rang out from the direction of the highway. Seth looked back, worried. I grinned and said "Better check on your friend. Sounds like he found someone that can fight back." I turned, and walked down the alleyway. With my scent all over him Dougie was almost assuredly surrounded by the undead now. Seth would fair no better. The wind coming off the ocean was carrying the sweet scent of my nectar deep into the city, deep into the nostrils of who knows how many zombies.
My rapists' bones would be picked clean by dawn, or worse. After all, the male zombies may just fuck them instead since they smell like me. Seth said nothing as he awkwardly stuffed his cock back in his pants and headed back down the alley.
..............
The shear size of Boston Medical Center was overwhelming. Literally hundreds of burned out cars ringed the complex. I had never been there before, but assumed that the doctor would have been communicating with a research division, or perhaps an infectious diseases lab. The smashed out windows and chained doors didn't give me much hope of finding anyone alive, but what else was I going to do?
I made my way to the front doors of the main hospital. Heavy steel plates had been welded into place. I certainly wasn't going to get in that way. I cautiously circled the glass and brick building until I found a loading dock. A heavy door with a magnetic lock was next to the bay doors, which had been welded shut to the metal runners. Knowing that any undead would be seeking out Seth and Dougie, I pulled the M9 and fired at the magnet. It cracked in two shots, and I was in.
Pitch. Fucking. Black. That's what most horror movies got wrong before the outbreak. There is no "subtle blue light" to help see. Buildings are pitch black, especially ones that have been hermetically sealed for whatever purpose. I fished for my flashlight in my pocket as I stayed as quiet as possible; the only light coming from the miniscule crack I'd I created around the magnetic lock on the top of the door.
Finally, the little LED light appeared in my inside pocket. I clicked it on, scanned the room for the door, swept it up and down the room, and clicked it off. That's the other thing they get wrong in movies. Batteries die all the time, not just when you need them the most. I'd been trapped in a basement before...
But perhaps I needed to figure out who exactly was in control of this hospital before I started reminiscing. Gangs? Military? Zombies?...
Tell the story, or get on with the search?
