Chapter 33 by Faustus Faustus

What's next?

On The Bus

Paying her fare, Emma greeted the driver with a smile. He was an older man with a dark olive complexion. He had as many white hairs as black ones lining his head. He looked like he had shaved his head some time ago but was now growing it out. The old driver gave Emma a warm smile then waited for her to sit before putting the bus in motion.

The bus was practically empty at this time of day. Besides herself and the driver, there was only one other person on the bus. From her seat towards the back Emma looked over the young man that sat several seats ahead of her. He was a young black man. He had his head down looking in some book, but he sat on the opposite side of the bus so Emma was able to see enough of his facial features. She noticed that he was rather attractive.

After looking him over for so long, the man must have sensed her staring and looked up. Emma was instantly embarrassed, but the young man smiled warmly at her and held her gaze for a moment before returning to his book.

I've found James a friend, She thought, amused at herself when the man turned back to his book. Then Emma realized that she was still staring.

The young man looked up again, smiled once more, then returned to his book after a moment of holding eye contact.

Emma blushed and looked out the window. She was embarrassed that she had been caught staring, but she had been around enough guys to know that that amount of smiling and eye contact almost always meant they were interested.

Emma ignored the man for several minutes, then glanced back his way. He was still reading intently. Emma feared that interested or not, this young man was going to be the shy book type like her cousin. Despite his obvious interest, Emma was going to have to make the first move if she wanted to talk to him.

Talk To Him Or Not?
