"David, Sophia, no need to worry! I will always do all I can to help you, and this situation won't be an exception."

Sophia's eyes light up, and she start smiling: "Oh, thank you so much John!" She dives in to give you a big hug, which you reciprocate. David also looks visibly relieved. He gives you a half smile and picks up a paper from the coffee table: "I guess I won't need this then!" Ripping the paper in half, he continues: "I drafted a contract in case we had to hire someone else to make sure they didn't do anything inappropriate with Sophia - professional deformation." He chuckles a bit. Smiling at you, he finishes: "But I know that won't be necessary with you. Can I get you something? A beer? Wine? Something stronger? How much do you need to be able to take time off work?"

"No drink, and don't worry about paying me a thing. Most of my work is data analysis these days, I'll go grab my laptop from home and I should be able to work from here. If I have to drop by the lab, I'll do so when you're home," you answer.

You quickly make the trip to and back from your house, grabbing your laptop as well as a few changes of clothes. The rest of the afternoon passes quickly, as the three of you chat and reminisce old times. As the sun starts to set, David asks you: "Will you eat dinner with us tonight? You're welcome to, but you also have your own kitchen on the 3rd floor if you prefer."

Since this is your first night here, and you haven't seen your friends in a while, you decide to eat with them at the very least for your first night here. David uses the intercom to notify the maid to add 1 more plate on the table, and a few minutes later, you three all take place around the massive oak table in the dining room, a magnificent roast beef waiting for you to cut in.
