Chapter 157 by brevdravis brevdravis

Cue the music...

Nowhere man...

"So... nowhere huh?" I mumbled, looking around. Way off in the distance, I thought I could hear something though, and I strained my ears to listen.

"Nowhere, yup. Site of the sacred Four Apostles of Zeus and their victory over creativity," Eris dug through her valise again, "Kind of a hole in history."

"You're saying John, Matthew, Luke..."

"No, no, that was about eight games ago. This time Grand Poobah decided he was going to..."

"Wait, Grand Poobah? Seriously, A Flintstones joke? Come on, that's just low hanging fruit."

"The Mikado," She replied happily. "Guaranteed to piss off somebody by mentioning that it's one of my favorite operas. And you mentioned Parent Trap at one point, and they quoted from it. Thank you for the opportunity to do that. Anyway, You sure you want the spoiler here? I tell you, and your worldview changes to suit what I say. Even if you think I'm lying. You're giving me power by listening to me, and giving me time, you know. "

"Does it get me out of here? That's the only question I really want answered right now. I want things to go back to..."

"You can't just make things go back to the way they were, Brent. Much as you want to. " Eris explained. "So... with that in mind, yeah, Zeus' four Apostles. John, Paul, George and Ringo."

Off in the distance, the slight sound became more noticeable. "...a point of view..." drifted across my ears, and I thought I could see what looked like... flowers maybe? I wasn't sure, but they seemed to be more substantial as Eris and I walked in the direction.

"The Beatles? Come on, John Lennon wasn't an apostle of the gods."

"Ok, You tell that to Mr. More Popular Than Jesus," She gestured to an enormous telephone covered with flowers. Off in the distance the sound of singing was much more pronounced.

"Isn't he a lot like you and meeeee...."

"Ok, so... " Eris pulled a small notepad from her valise. "Let's see... turn left at the fish receiver phone covered with daisies..."

I boggled at the huge sight of a old style rotary telephone, the size of a small house, with what looked like a fish with pink wings sitting where the handset would normally be situated. It was covered with yellow flowers, and sound of music emanated strongly from our right.

"What was in that coffee...?" I gaped at the sight, as Eris began dragging me by the arm along the blank void which was crisscrossed now with flower paths.

"Your parents did the acid so you don't have to, this is just getting started as far weirdness goes." Eris ducked as the wing of a peacock with a smokestack for a head danced past in time with the sound of the "La-la-la" that echoed on the wind.

"So where the heck are we going?" I pushed past a bush that was half made of hidden blue cats as I tried to keep up with the wild haired woman, who constantly consulted her notebook before gesturing in various directions.

"Ok... four paths... and it doesn't matter at which point which one we pick because they all go to the same place..." Eris pointed to four blue trails that split apart ahead of us. "We're heading to something that can get us out of here. Without electricity, we lose a heck of a lot of science, and most of the tricks that people accept are based off that."

"So, why can't... I mean, you're his... step-daughter, right? Why can't you do something with it?"

"Do you want to talk, or do you want to leave? This song's only about three minutes long," Eris pointed towards a large section of plant cats that obscured a large section o f the blank in front of us.

The foliage easily parted and revealed the shape of a large craft of some kind. The golden color that dominated the vast majority of it was a darker hue than I would have thought, resembling a deep sea ship facsimile built for an amusement park. My eyes roamed over the various portholes and minor markings, and I wondered why the heck the thing had what looked like four periscopes.

"What a piece of junk..." I mumbled, looking at the huge submersible. The gangplank was lowered, and Eris had already hopped onto the golden metal conveyance with a whoot.

"In the toooooown... where I was born..." Eris sang with a laugh, stomping her foot on the deck with a quick tap step. "Come on, you can't tell me you don't want to take the opportunity to steal the Yellow Submarine and end that song's tyranny."

"I... yeah, I'd be totally lying if I said I hadn't thought about this for years." I agreed, racing up the gangplank after her. "So how do we...?

Grand Theft Submarine
