Chapter 11
by Vain
What else should he do this evening then...?
Not much, just like yesterday
The rest of the evening was fairly uneventful, just like the one before, and Jack spent most of his time just trying not to think too much about the last couple of days. This was easier said than done of course, but at least he was able to work for an hour or so in the garden before it was starting to get dark outside, even if he loathed to get close to the pool while a certain picture was still fresh on his mind.
In fact, just looking at their sunbeds made him want to smash them and turn them into useful firewood, even if he knew that such behavior wouldn't help one bit at all with the problems at hand. So he went to the other side of the house instead, and mowed the lawn to help him get rid of some frustrations.
While doing so he couldn't help from keeping an eye out for any eventual intruders, and he found himself wondering when the kid would try and come back for his camera. It was a rather expensive thing to lose after all, and there was no way a kid like that would just let him keep it forever, even if they'd be scared to **** about what Jack would do to them when they returned.
For now he'd really just want to talk to the little creep however, and ask him a couple of things about those pictures, but it seemed like he'd have to wait until the boy showed up again. If he'd only known what was in that camera, then perhaps he'd not been quite so eager to chase the kid away the first time.
Well, it was too late for regrets though, which could be said about a lot of things which Jack had been through lately.
Eventually he was finished with the front side of the house at least, and headed inside for another look on those pictures he'd been thinking about, but just like the last time he didn't really find anything else except for the one of his wife by the pool. The rest was still just a bunch of random photographs, even if they were all related to Jack and his family.
Then he returned downstairs again, and found that some of his kids had managed to do something useful for once. One of them had done the dishes at least, while it seemed like Jennie was running the washing machine with some of her clothes. Perhaps Kim or Kate would've been in greater need of the latter, considering the mess in their rooms, but then again they probably had more than enough clothes to change with for the rest of the week.
Either way it was definitively a change for the better, even if it was way too early to get his hopes up just yet.
A few hours later it was finally time to go to bed again, and despite his lack of motivation he managed to make the girls do the same. It certainly wasn't easy to just stop thinking though, and just like the night before he lay awake for hours before he managed to finally drift off to sleep...
What about the next morning...?

Girls of Jack
One man's world has been turned upside down, but he may find hope in the most unexpected places.
A story which I hope to work on when I have the time for it. For now it's closed for others, but I'll gladly accept ideas and suggestions for how to improve or continue the story! I've now started adding conditions, which is how I planned it from the start. So far it's recommended to read without activating the play function, but please try it out if you want, and let me know if you find something odd about the scoring.
