Not how he imagined

Fred giggled to himself as he stared at Irma. "Great. Now, I'm going to let you use my personality as soon as I finish my sentence."

He watched as Irma blinked again and took a deep breath as if waking up from a trance. She then looked at Fred and smiled. "Thanks for letting me use your personality, Fred!" She exclaimed, stretching her arms. "I never knew how dull everything is without your personality!"

Fred looked at her and asked, "Really? How did it feel? How was it like when you didn't have a personality?"

Irma brought a finger to her mouth and thought about it. "Dull. I wouldn't even bother thinking about it if you didn't ask."

She seemed to be considering something before continuing, "Anyways, can we get back to our assignment now that you're done? We need to hand it in soon but we can't just use yours. Tess and Jon gathered most of the information and it's our part to put everything together."

Fred seemed surprised at the turn of topic. In his mind, what should have happened was either some kind of confusion in Irma or... some kind of change with how she acts, but that's clearly not what's happening here. "I guess? Here, maybe you can copy this and use it instead?" He said, handing over the completed assignment that had caused the entire sequence of event in the first place.

"Can I?" Irma asked, wide eyed. "It belongs to you, and I wouldn't want you to feel that we're just copying your work!"

Fred shook his head and flipped the assignment over to Irma. "I need you all to hand over a report that has all our names on it too, so you're helping me out doing so as well." He's starting to get the rules for the "ownership"; and while he's still a bit confused at why it's not working on Irma like he thought it should, the more he experiment, the better he would understand it.

"But..." Fred continued, "I can't just let you copy my work for nothing." If things worked out like how he thought, this should be fun. "What can you trade for it?"
