Chapter 7
by zankoo
Are things unusual at Carson, Walker, Harris, and Klein?
Not at the moment ...
Amy walked around her desk and sat down. She dropped her purse on the floor. She tapped at her computer keyboard, bringing the machine to life. She typed her username and password, and everything looked totally normal.
"Good morning, Amy. It's a beautiful day!" Adrian Walker strolled by. He often arrived just minutes after she did. He was the second most senior partner in the firm. He was about 50 years old, tall, Black, had a deep voice, wore glasses, and was clean shaven. He was married to a former Miss California, and the couple had six children. He smiled at Amy as he walked by, and didn't even notice that she didn't return the smile.
Amy watched him go. That was normal, she thought. Mr. Walker just said hi and went on his way. Totally, totally normal.
As Adrian Walker turned a corner and escaped Amy's line of sight, she wondered, what if I had fallen on him on the bus? What would that have been like?
She lingered in that thought as she settled into her chair and began her work day. The phone rang. She picked it up and said, "Carson, Walker, Harris, and Klein. How may I help you?"
Author's Note: This is the end of the introduction. If you'd like to read more of Amy's adventures, you can choose from the various stories offered, or read a profile of Amy and this universe. Enjoy!
