Not all is as it seems

Your staff was still humming as you were about to fire an Arcane Bolt, your target being the tallest Lamia of the group, when all of a sudden the huddled group of Lamias turned and faced you, prostrating themselves on the ground in a bow. What a turn of events... You were just standing there with your staff pointed at this group of Lamias bowing before you. Uh... Whats going on here?

"Oh mighty wielder of magic and arcane secrets, we humbly surrender before your awesome powers," the Lamia addressing you seemed to lead the pack, "please spare us and allow us to live."

"Um... Ok... I guess... So... What are you ladies doing here?" Your voice fraught with confusion as you began your line of questioning.

"We call this humble cave our abode, and reside inside. It is our only home, and although it is quite humble, we are proud of our furnishings."

"Um... Ok... You don't have to talk to me like that... I'm not a king or any kind of royalty..."

"Oh. Its just with your robes and magic, we assumed you were from the Kingdom."

"Well, I am, but that's not the point... Ok, I just have a few questions... I took a job from a village nearby, and they said you were doing some **** and such... Uh... What's up with that?" You were still quite confused and had not quite recovered your faculties from this weird situation. You were quite certain a fight would be had, and you fully intended on laying waste to this den.

"We need help." the head lamia said quietly as she wrung her hands together.

"Huh... You sure have a weird way of asking for it."

"We need offspring..."

"Come again?" you couldn't believe your ears.

" We need offspring. We cannot reproduce on our own, and we cannot go back to the burrows we once inhabited. We need help."

"...Honestly, you could have just asked..." You still could not believe your ears. "How is this? I'll help you, you'll leave the village alone, and I'll leave a summoning stone with you if you ever need my assistance again?"

The head lamia's eyes narrowed as she huddled her group of lamias together. Whispering and objections could be heard, but you still didn't know what conclusion they would come to.

"Deal," the head lamia jumped on the offer and quickly slithered up to you. "How do I know I can trust you?"

"Oh you don't have to worry, this is really a win-win for everyone. I can report to the village that you will leave them alone, I can help you with your little problem, and everybody wins."
