Chapter 4 by Kat Grey Kat Grey

How do they plead?

Not Guilty!

"Not guilty, your honor!" Good Kat and Bad Kat blurted their plea in unison- though neither party was exactly sure of what they were being charged.

"Fuck, seriously!?" Prosecutor Kat was muttering bitterly under her breath, but it was still perfectly audible in the otherwise silent courtroom.

Judge Kat smiled and blinked innocently. "Okay, cool. So it's a trial, then. Kat's Guilt, let's hear your opening statement."

Prosecutor Kat nodded politely and stood, turning to face the audience. "Thank you, your honor. Ladies and gentlemen of the court..."

"Where's the jury!?" Bad Kat whispered in Good Kat's ear.

"There's no jury." Good Kat murmured softly. "When you die, you only have to face yourself."

Bad Kat looked up at the rather incompetent Judge and smiled. She had this in the bag... she wasn't sure what she was on trial for, and she wasn't sure what would happen if she lost... but she had this in the bag.

Kat's Guilt was wrapping up her brief but effective speech. "...in short, ladies and gentlemen, I will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Miss Grey's life was lived almost entirely with selfish motivations, cruel cunning, hedonistic amorality, excessive pride ever-spilling over into arrogance, and a hopeless obsession with an impossible dream of success she was unwilling to work to achieve. Even the 'good deeds' performed were performed out of a selfish craving for attention and pleasure."

Bad Kat grunted and crossed her arms across her chest. "Bitch." She hissed angrily.

Good Kat nodded in agreement. "Yeah, our golfing days are officially over."

Prosecutor Kat might've heard some of these comments, because once her opening statements concluded, she seemed to glare at them with even greater venomous contempt.

"Well, Miss Grey?" The Judge Kat pointed down at them with her gavel. "Which one of you is representing your interests? The Good One, or the Bad One?"

Again the doppelgangers turned to each other. Which one was better suited to state their case?

Who should do the talking for the defense?
