Nope

'It really is that easy,' Mina thought to herself as the billing department clerk simply deleted Mina's file from their system and marked the account as settled. The rather portly woman was decidedly not Mina's type, but the thrill of watching her fall into trance with a clap of her hands was electrifying. It had taken some digging to get to the right person to do this, but watching a life-crippling debt vanish into the ether had been well worth the effort.

She still wasn't sure how she was doing this. She didn't want to experiment too much in such a public place, but from what she had learned so far seemed promising. When she had broken the mental thread tethering herself to the nurse, the woman had no recollection of her tryst with Mina, or any of the commands given to her. She had simply given Mina a change of clothes and bid her well on her way home. And she found out it wasn't limited to one person at a time. A pair of orderlies had played patty-cake together when Mina covertly hypnotized them both at the same time. Multiple people had given her a dollar out of their pocket when she asked as she made her way to the billing department. Not enough to financially ruin them, but she had cab fare to get home now, since her only means of transportation was currently rusting in pieces on the side of the road and her purse and cell phone was somewhere in the wreckage so she couldn't get a hold of her roommate.

Free at last, with endless possibilities brimming in her mind, Mina left the hospital feeling better than she had in a long time.

Her only stop on the way home was to the site of the accident. The taxi driver was kind enough to wait for her as she carefully picked over the wreck, looking for her belongings. She didn't want to hypnotize the man for a free drive, as she didn't think a hypnotized person could drive very well and she'd feel bad about him wasting his time and gas for no pay.

Sadly her phone was little better than shrapnel now she could see when she dug its remains out of a patch of sand. Her purse had somehow gotten wrapped around a tree branch overhead, and after knocking it down with a rock she was relieved to see her wallet and other necessities still present. Finally some good news out of the whole ordeal, aside from the whole weird mind control thing.

Then there was her impact site. The cairn had always been there as far as she could remember. It was just a thing she drove past every day on her way to her store. The title 'cairn' barely seemed to fit the glorified pile of rocks carefully stacked one on top of the other by someone who must've been really, really bored a long time ago. Most of it had fallen over, and as Mina watched a couple more pebbles broke free and tumbled into the grass.

It was easy to tell where her head had hit the large stone holding up the whole thing, because the fairly plain rock had split open to reveal a massive geode. Purple clusters of crystal sparkled in the headlights of the taxi, dazzling her eyes as she knelt for a closer look. The hollow space inside the rock was quite large, and she idly wondered how the thing had held up the pressure of all the other rocks for so long without breaking. She also wondered why the threads of that strange power in her mind seemed to thrum like plucked guitar strings as she gazed within it.

Almost unbidden, a thought arose in her mind. 'Maybe whoever placed the rocks on the pile was trying to pin something down. Something they didn't understand. Maybe the hollow stone was a prison. For...something...something that gave me these powers.'

She shivered, suddenly cold as she stood back up and made her way back to the taxi. She'd come back some other time, in the daylight, to investigate this thing. Now though, she just wanted to go home.
