Chapter 20 by SummerDawn SummerDawn

Few Weeks Later.

No baby.

Alex had not seen his Step Mom that often after there fling a few weeks back. He took off to Florida with Friends for the last few weeks, and got back to his Penthouse, he had been with a few women during the partying but they all felt to young and inexperienced, as well as he never was able to go bareback with any of them, and maybe that was a good thing that he had to use condoms. yet the first thing he could think about was Suki. He called her as soon as he got in the door.

"Heya Mom, just got back, and well...missed you, when's the next time you may be down to visit your folks?"

Suki saw her cellphone ring, her stepson calling, probably back from his trip to Florida. She wondered how many girls he'd bedded while on the trip, but she also wasn't about to ask, it didn't really matter in the end as long as none showed up with his baby in their belly, that was reserved for her. Kevin was upstairs working on some project in his office, and he'd asked not to be disturbed so she knew he wouldn't be down for a while and it was safe to talk.

"Hey Alex. Good to hear you're back. Not sure when I'm that way next, Dad's stable and my sister's away on a cruise with her husband." She paused, "I have a little bit of bad news. It showed up on time, no luck catching this month." She knew he'd be disappointed, but it couldn't be helped, her body was her body, and as expected, she'd not been fertile.

"Hey I have an Idea, you know Dad is not a fan of Opera... " His voice changed as if he was doing something on his phone. "I can buy us tickets for Der Rosenkavalier." He said mispronouncing the German Opera. "You can say you got the tickets for you and a friend, but she cancelled, and you know how much he does not like it so you were going to see if I can go.... How does that sound? Dinner, Opera and fucking before you go home? It can be in August, so you can set up the idea you are going with a friend, and umm well you will be over this time of the month right?" he waited to see how she responded to his half baked plan.

Suki listened to her son's suggestion. "It's clockwork so this time next month same issue. But if you could get tickets for a show in two weeks, it'd be the best time to try." She smiled as she thought it through, "Last minute tickets. Claire got them but had to bail. I think it could work."

Alex smiled to himself, "I will be counting the Days, and call back later with the ticket information. Love you...Mom..." yet the way he said he loved her felt a lot deeper than a simple family comment.

"Love you too Alex," Suki remarked, waiting till she heard the click of the call dropping before she hung up. Leaning back she sighed, she was torn between disappointment over not catching, and relief.
