No Rest

-The next day-

-Vita is concentrating on Akio’s head, fixing whatever damage the Order did to him. While she is healing him, she can see his memories and get a good understanding of how close he is to Kasumi from when they were kids all the way to when they met after a long absence. There are some memories that aren’t easily accessible, but she doesn’t want to destroy what little progress she made and unintentionally erase a vital piece of his memory, so she continued to heal him and view only the memories that were easily accessible. _Such a history between those two. Even after finding out she made a pact with a demon; he hasn’t left her. _Vita looks at Akio and lets out a sigh,-

“I hope we get to find her before this gets too out of hand. Then again, with his condition, I don’t know how long we’ll have to wait.”

-Kasumi is still walking along the path with her wolves to where Akta first told her and her former group where to go. The walk was quiet and serene, perfect for someone to recollect their thoughts and while she was making her way to the portal, she had feelings creeping on her. She was feeling worried that something might have happened, and she wasn’t there for him. She continued down the path with the wolves until she saw a town in the distance. When she entered the gates, the guards gave her issues about the wolves, but she was able to convince them that they are trained and won’t attack unless she is threatened. After a few more questions, they released her into town, where she looked for a place to get some good and some rest. She found a tavern that was doing dinner and went inside, as she expected, people were looking towards her as these wolves continued to walk side-by-side with her. Some of them murmured to each other while some debated on touching the wolves’ fur and risk losing a hand. When she reached the front, she ordered her food and some food for the wolves and sat at an empty table while the wolves played with each other.-

-An hour later-

-After the three got their food and ate with people still looking at them, Kasumi went to the person at the front and asked where she can get a place to stay for the night and possibly a job. The man pointed to an inn that would accept pets, which was a long walk away and took out a map and showed the announcement board where bounties and other jobs are regularly posted for those in need. Kasumi nodded towards the man and left the area heading towards the tavern. The tavern was well-lit, given what time of the night it was, with some of the patrons sitting in the lounge area having conversations and laughs until Kasumi and her wolves walked in. Most of the patrons wondered what happened for this young woman to have wolves accompany her. When she reached the innkeeper, she asked for a room for her and her wolves. She gave Kasumi the keys to a room on the fourth floor and went up the stairs and into her room, once inside the wolves ran around the bed, tails wagging and looked at Kasumi who took off her shoes and jumped right into the bed. She looked around and saw another door to the right of the bed and thought that was the bathroom, she then got up and went inside the bathroom to freshen up after her journey. A few minutes later, she walked out, a towel wrapped around her body and saw that the wolves were fast asleep. She finished drying off and placed the towel back put on some clothing and went to bed.-

-The next day, Kasumi woke up, went to the bathroom again to freshen up and once she exited, the wolves were starting to wake up. She looked through her pack to see what she could wear and took out and put on her grey shirt and black pants and started to head out when one of the wolves let out a yawn and looked outside through the windows. She decided to join him and see what it looked like however, the only thing she could see was trees.-

“Could be worse, we could be looking at an angry mob, a storm or a very angry Akta.” Kasumi stared out through the trees and wondered how much further she would need to travel to get to where Akta wanted her to be.

-Kasumi then started to head downstairs and heard a lot of talking downstairs, she tried to sneak downstairs without revealing too much of herself so she would be able to get a view of what was going on.-

“What do you mean? We don’t have any criminals here.”

“Do you have anyone with a pet or two?” Kasumi looked down and saw the innkeeper and a hooded individual talking. The individual had the same clothing that the people who killed her parents had, she moved back a bit, making her nearly invisible from the stairs. “There may have been someone who came by with two wolves. She is incredibly dangerous and to be reported to us or your town guards.” Kasumi slowly went back to her room and took zero chances of hoping that the innkeeper would keep her hidden from the individual. When she packed up her things, she heard footsteps approaching her room. She looked outside and saw that the drop wasn’t too far, but still wouldn’t be comfortable for her or the wolves. However, the wolves nudged for her to go first, she nodded at them and climbed out while doing her best not to lose her grip and fall. As she just got out of sight, the door opened, and the wolves barked at the person(s). She landed on the ground first on her feet, then on her ass.

-A few minutes later, she was able to escape from town but the wolves were nowhere to be found. She wanted to wait a couple of minutes, but something in her mind told her to keep running so she did just that. Another few minutes later, the hooded individual walked down the stairs and looked at the innkeeper,-

“She escaped. I hope you didn’t warn her at the last minute.”

“No, I still had no idea that she was a criminal or I would have called the same day. Did she leave with her dogs?”

“No, the wolves stayed behind. She must have **** them to cover for her.”

“How did she do that?”

“She is with a demon. The wolves were under the demon’s control as well as she which is why she must be stopped and helped or destroyed. If you see her again, let your town guards know as soon as possible.”

“Of course.”

-The individual left the inn and looked towards the town gates. He placed his hand on his chin and rubbed it before going the opposite direction disappearing in an alley. A few hours later, Akio was finally healed, regained consciousness, but was still asleep. Vita, on the other hand, moved about around town listening to conversations from different people about a woman who came by with wolves and a cloaked individual looking for her. The fallen goddess had an idea of who the townspeople were talking about and immediately got worried, so she decided to head to the place Kasumi stayed at. Luckily for the fallen goddess, she was in her disguise and able to blend in with the crowd before she got to the innkeeper,-

“What do you need, ma’am?” The innkeeper looked up at the disguised goddess and smiled at her.

“I want to know who was in the room the young individual was in?”

“That I can’t tell you.”

“Why not?”

“If I told you, the people here would start talking, which would bring unwanted attention. I don’t want that, so unless you want a drink, you will have to leave.”

-Vita nodded at the innkeeper and left the area, she looked around for another entry that Kasumi might have used and found an open window. She looked around for anyone who would be able to see her climb and proceeded to climb up to the window.-
