With another lifeguard's help and a backboard, they retrieved pulled the girl out of the water. Her shoulder was a gory mess, Matt couldn't look directly at it. Matt couldn't let this happen though. He checked to see if she was breathing, no breath, the other guard checked her pulse, and shakes her head.
"Lets start CPR" Matt says, heart pounding fast, feeling his power burn in his blood as he placed his hands between the girls breasts to begin to deliver chest compressions.
While he pumped, His angel appeared again. "She's dead" she said with a frown. "She was dead since she hit the board. You can't bring her back. Matt heard his little angel, but he just couldn't, it was literally his duty, he was a lifeguard, he was to preserve duty, this woman deserves it.

Matt felt a tap open on his power, as he used it intentionally for the first time and was certain he was aglow, as he used his power to cure the girl. Cure her of ****. He pulsed his power into her, with each compression the girl's body spasmed. Her shoulder began to knit and snap back together. Finally Matt felt her heart beat once and stop.

Matt Pushed again, from deep within, harder, with more than just his power. And the girls heart gave a single beat. And then another, her eyes flew open, and mouth agape as she once more drew breath.
Matt had a moment of elation before darkness swarmed around him. The last thing he could hear was his little angel stammering the word "no" over and over.
