Looking at the strange tower across the lake Samantha frowns not liking the feeling she is getting from the place. Turning her gaze the opposite the direction she decides to strike out into the woods. Though there is no discernable path there is little underbrush and the ground is level beneath the pine, oak and maple trees that make up this forest, so the hiking should be easy. Finding food and water shouldn’t be too hard considering the vegetation associated with this type of woods, besides Samantha is not without woodland skills from her backpacking trips with her father on the Appalachian Trail.

She does have a flashlight and lighter on her, which will help immensely, though a canteen would have been nice too. Taking her stiletto she begins to mark the trees so she can find her way back to the pond if she needs too.

Trying her best to gage the placement of the sun and the growth of moss on the side of trees Samantha attempts to head due south, away from the pond and the strange tower.
