Chapter 3 by Nemo of Utopia Nemo of Utopia

Does The Knight Arive Early?

No, You Get It All Done Before He Arrives.

You begin donning your human garments, gambason, chain swathing, Glyph inscribed Breast Plate, and Heartstone slotted Helm with the ease of long habit, having gone through this process many times before. As you go through the practiced motions of donning your garments and armor your mind again wanders back to the beginnings of your journey, now more than a century in the past...

You stalked into the caves, alert for ambush, but maddeningly hungry after your long flight which began mere minutes after hatching...

There was yelling in goblin from deeper into the caverns but even with your draconic ancestral memorires you could not decipher it, at least not yet.

Before they enter puberty around the age of 70 Dragons do very little actual Learning, instead they sort and sift through the vast jumble of mystically implanted memories from all their draconian ancestors back to the beginning of time, which sloshes around in thier heads, grabbing useful tidbits as they slip and slide past and fileing them into their own brains to be more fully examined later.

This is the main reason that Red Dragons for example are almost always ENFJ personalities with strong degrees of Sociopathy and Psychopathy. From the moment of hatching the thoughts, feelings, emotions, and attitudes of millions of other dragons who, (right back to the first hours of the Multiverse and "The Choosing of the Ur-Dragons",) shared those same outlooks, sleet around them in a chaotic maelstrom every minute of their lives until they enter puberty. They cannot help but be influenced by this, so in almost all cases they end up with the same mental processes and attitudes as the majority of their ancestors. The only reasons that this is "almost always" instead of just "always" is that sometimes dragons attitudes change later In life, as yours are starting to, and that it is not unknown for the charitable and kind metallic dragons to mate with the violent and bellicose Chromatic breeds, either because they have become enamoured of one who has, (as an adult,) had a change of heart, or because the chromatic dragon ****/**** them into the mating.

You were not one of those rare exceptions. Even in the few hours you had been out of the egg you had already accepted the concept of slavery, that goblins were only fit to be used as fawning sycophants, and that you had every right to use intimidation and **** to get what you wanted.

Soon you came to an area where the goblins were digging into the rock, carving out galleries, tunnels, and...

You ALMOST blundered into the pit trap, but were saved by your razor sharp tallon slicing through the canvas spread over the latice of thin branches right at the edge.

"Clever bunch of slatterns for goblins..." You muttered, and opened up the trap with a grip and heave.

The pit was ten feet across, dropped down fourty feet, and sported sharp spikes at the bottom. You were very surprised, this was more the sort of thing that you expected from Kobolds, the lizard people that had for aeons been used as slaves by the chromatic dragons. They were trapmasters beyond reproach, goblins weren't even literate.

You thought no more of it, until you approached one of the doors further in and smelled bearfat...

Your garments are in place, you open your strong boxes start tossing treasure around artfully as though it had been in a pile and now was scattered by the fight. This takes you less than a minute, you're a pro, and then you get out your jewelers loupe and start patently inspecting each gem one by one...

The knight charges in twelve minutes later, cursing and swearing, and you comment offhandedly "About time you got up here, I've been waiting for you since you were at the front gate..."

What's The Knights' Reaction?
